I cannot agree with your massage therapist more!!! I totally believe that my

massage on ' facial features helped to release the muscles in his

face that were so attached to the tight SCM. I was never told to do this, in

fact someone on another board challenged me by saying this is not proven,

yada yada- but you have to go with you gut and some common sense sometimes.

I firmly believe that there are nerve endings in his eye, cheek, jaw, ear,

that needed massage or rejuvenation- as he was cramped or stunted inutero and

my feeling was to re-energize that side of the face and allow it to release

by moving those facial muscles around as well. When was born, he

had a very noticeable smaller eye, a droopier cheek on the tort side, you

could just tell that this muscle was pulling everything to meet it, as well

as his upper torso. These are no longer issues for us, and his facial

asymmetry is gone, including the smaller eye (I feel massage around the eye

socket and even on the lid helped as well). The therapist did show me how to

massage down his pulled up shoulder. We really are the best pt for our

children, my pt saw him 2x a week for a 1/2 hour- this is not enough to make

a dent, we had to do so much more in terms of stretching, being on top of

using that tort side, etc. You know enough now that you will be able to get

the job done yourselves. I went to a pt at 10 months and she said, there's

nothing I can show you that you don't already know or do! You are doing

great by using alternative medicine in my opinion- and your right, a mother's

instinct is rarely wrong- we see our children more than anyone else and are

the best judge of what's happening. Rhia is in great hands and she has one

smart mommy- good luck to you all and please keep us updated!

Dear what a lovely place of peace and well being you have found

yourself and your daughter surrounded in. I am so very sorry that your

journey has been less than kind in getting their-but what does not kill us

makes us stronger and you certainly are a much stronger women and mommy

today. Mommy's instincts are always right and your current plan of care and

treatment for Rhia sound absolutely wonderful. I hope you w ill remain part

of our family and let us know how rhia does and how you do and what your

current team of specialist do for your sweet baby. It sounds as if with the

right professionals you may have a great alternative source of treatment here

rather than the helmet and I hope you will be available to provide

information to other moms out there on your journey.

P.S. I forgot to add that before I had - before I was even pregnant-

I talked to my co-worker about my friend's son's headshape which is severe

brachy....she told me she shaped all 6 of her children's head shape by using

her hands and light pressure everyday and they have very rounded heads today.

Go figure! I tried to " hold " my son's pointy area but with me working

full-time, realistically this would never have even worked for us. I would

think that even for severe cases, this wouldn't work- but what do I know?!!!

I'm always open to anything! (well, almost!)

I hope your not reading this ;) Your supposed to be relaxing! You really

do need to break away for a bit, sometimes this can consume you (been there)

and even make you sick (like your massive headaches)- so take a break from

the whole idea and enjoy yourself on Mother's Day especially- you deserve it!

Hi :

WOW - thanks for your story. That is REALLY encouraging for me. I

KNEW I was on the right track for us!

I know, I supposed to be taking a break from this, but I'm still kind

of in a tizzy. Thankfully this weekend we are getting out of town -

and away from computers, so I will be able to take a mental vacation

then.

Again, thanks for your input. Like I said before, I believe in

Holistic Medicine, meaning we use all available therapies (and

medicines, if need be) to help us live better lives and recover fully

from our illnesses and injuries.

Update: and Rhiannon

Hello all:Well, good news. We have our appointment with CT in Madison next Monday, May 20th. As my ped would not write the script for the helmet, we see the neurosurgeon first, then the CT folks. So, we will most likely do the casting next Monday, provided the Dr. thinks it would be beneficial. I just have to say that CT has been WONDERFUL to me throughout this entire hellish experience that I had here in St. . Their information has been consistant and helpful, they have been accommodating and understanding, and, listen to this - the OT will happen to be in Minneapolis next weekend, so she will call me and "stop by for a peek" just to take a preliminary look to see if we will most likely need the helmet or not. She is doing this to help us on her day off. Of course, only the neurosurgeon can make that decision for sure, but she is trying to make sure they are ready for us on Monday. (I think they are squeezing us in that afternoon, so she wants to see if they should have the casting plaster ready or not LOL.)Well, that's all for now. I will check in after we get back from Madison to let you all know what happened. Good luck to all our little guys and gals this week - and here's hoping for many big growth spurts!, Rhiannon's momFor more plagio info
