Hi,

Well, things aren't going as smoothly with Mackenzie wearing her band as

we hoped. She almost seems like two different children...with and w/o

band. W/O - she is her relatively happy self...with - she is whiny and

very hard to console. She is no longer giving us problems putting it on

& taking it off but once she has it on - nobody in the house is a happy

camper, so to speak. We still haven't put her in it 23 hours yet...first

because she has been sick and vomiting and we didn't want her to get the

band in the vomit...secondly, she hasn't had all the red spots disappear

w/in an hour yet. She still gets quite the prominient one above the

hairline above her right eye - this side is where she has the bossing of

the forehead. Plus she gets one on the back left top of her head. These

do not disappear w/in the hour...when they do...we put the band back on

but she turns fussy again. Does anyone think that it is possible that

these are actually hurting her and they are more than pressure? I'm

considering not starting her in it for the full 23 hours until we can

get back to CT (hopefully on Tuesday, if they can fit us in) and have

those two areas shaved a bit. Did anyone else's baby start off this

badly but still adapt to it? Any advice for this uncertain mom (who is

nervous as to what she has done to her child)? Any advice would be

appreciated from BTDT parents...thanks.

If she has pressure spots that don't disappear in an hour then she definitely

needs an adjustment and that might be part of what is making her fussy. It is

very unusual for babies to not adjust rather quickly to the band, so if it is

making her unhappy then a trip the ortho is needed.

So sorry to hear that MacKenzie is not happy with her band. Hopefully you can

get that fixed and she'll be back on track.

I hope your adjustment with CT went well for Mackenzie today! I'm so

frustrated for you- but I hope this is just a minor setback and nothing that

a little re-fitting can't fix!

Let us know how it went!
