Rhiannon's casting at CT

Hello to all:Just wanted to check in and let you all know Rhiannon was casted today at CT in Madison. The drive (5 hours each way) went really well - Rhia did not cry even once!! And the meeting with the CT folks, well I could not be happier with how it went!First, I brought along photos of Rhia from when she was just born. The OT was so impressed by how far she has come (the birth photos really show the effects of the inter-uterine constraint, and my poor baby was pretty banged-up.) She was amazed that the asymmetries were so relatively minor at this point and that her tort issues were so minor, comparitively. She was very supportive of all the hard work I have done, and of all the therapies that I do with her - alternative and conventional. Also, she gave me the most important piece of information for my piece of mind (other than that my daughter will get a good result with this helmet). That was that everything that I had thought and fought about with my previous providers was correct! That I was not the crazy one, (no matter how much they wanted me to think it.) My thoughts on the tort/plagio are/were in line with the folks at CT, and by following my gut I had been able to provide my baby with good therapies that provided good results! I could have cried!Rhiannon tolerated the casting really well. Of course there were a few tears, but not what I had prepared myself for. The therapist was VERY thorough and was so kind, compassionate, informative, and professional. It felt so good to be treated so well. (Sad, isn't it? That I'm amazed to be treated well by my conventional health professional?) Anyway, to anyone out there with a long drive ahead of them to get to a CT clinic, I would say go for it. It is worth the trip, even if you would decide not to band.Good luck to all of our plagio babies out there, may there be many growth spurts this week!Kind regards,, Rhiannon's momFor more plagio info

,

I'm so glad that you were able to get such great feedback at CT. I know

firsthand what your saying when you felt finally vindicated for all of your

hard work. My neuro pretty much told me was severe, get a

therapist, goodbye. When I went back 6 months later ready to blast him for

his lack of direction and guidance, as well as not returning my phone call

regarding a question he said he'd get back to me on, he opened up with, " Mom,

you did it! He looks great and you did it all on your own " - it kind of threw

me for a loop and melted my anger a bit. I told him that they should have a

pt to recommend or something. I also told him about my internet friends and

education, and he admitted that he didn't know all there was to know and if I

could learn online, more power to me. Besides that good feeling of

acknowledgement from a professional, I think we both knew early on that we

were doing what we had to do. Good for you for being such a great mom and

getting down to business! I am so happy to hear that Rhia's casting went

well- now on to great results! Good luck and please keep us posted!

Congrats on getting the casting! Great advice to get to a

Cranial Tech. no matter how near or very far. We too were treated so

professionally there and with such kindness.

Best wishes to you and Rhiannon!

It's good to hear that you were treated the way you should have been treated

from the very start. The casting is behind you and you are ready to move

forward and put the bad experiences behind you. That's GREAT!!

Let us know when the fitting is scheduled!
