Guest guest
Hi 's Mom! I am not in your same situation, as my son is only 6 months old and was banded at 5 months. But as far as your questions, no he is not too old. CT will band babies as old as 18 months. Have you been to Cranial Technolgies for a consultation? They do it for free. They will give you an honest opinion about banding. But it's true, I don't think anyone can guarantee you that it will work. All I can say is my husband and I decided that whatever we could do, we would. Even if the results were minimal. You won't know if it's effective until you try. We fully expected (based on the number of people here who are denied by insurance) that we would have to pay for it ourselves. It's a difficult personal choice to make. I think we all struggles with it. Do with what feels right for you. It might be harder for him to adjust because he is older and more aware of what is sitting on the top of his head. But like every baby here, I'm sure he would get use to it in no time. Good luck! Ana & Jace julianasalway <julianasalway@...> wrote: I need some advice! My son is almost 15 months old. He has a flat back head, and it bows out above the ears. Is he too old for a DOC band? Will it work? Will he be able to constantly take it off? Is it worth the money because our insurance absolutely will NOT pay for this? We've seen 3 doctors (specialists) and 2 therapists who all gave us different answers. NO one will tell us what to do. They say, "I would do it... but I can't give you any sort of promise that it will work." Others have said, "it's not worth the hassle, he's already too old."Is there anyone with a similar situation with an older child needing correction for a flat back head and bowing above the ears?We need some advice from you! Thanks,'s momFor more plagio info
Guest guest
Hi 's mom and welcome. It is not too late for a DOCband, although progress will not be as quick because of his age. The people at CT will band babies up to 24 months old. We have LOTS of people here who have banded at an " older " age and have had very good success. I think you will get responses from many of them. The decision to band is very personal and totally up to you. The band CAN make a difference and it is not that big of a hassle. It is possible that he will try to unfasten it, but there are ways around that as well. Good luck with your decision and please let us know if we can help you in any way.
