Guest guest
I am so glad your getting the ball rolling...When I told my husband about the " famous " part he was like " Oh S*** you've already got a bad rep w/your agressiveness... " so I was scared I had made a bad impression...he has a way of making me feel that way...I know I am agressive especially when it is something I believe in... Yes, I to feel the medical community either really is stupid or acts stupid when it comes to Plagio...and Torticollis....I hope to make parents aware of the signs so they can be thorns in the drs. sides and the insurance companies sides...argh.... The star band I know nothing about....since I am going to get the DOC band (it is the only one avail. in my area) I havent studied much on the star band. I got an email last night from a starband rep I can forward it to you if you would like...If Aetna says anything about that I would simply gather information that states the effectiveness of both bands on older kiddos...maybe after I ponder it I can come up w/something....but in all honesty I have learned most of my stuff from here...Kids are calling ....Trisha Plagio Newbie Amy, insurance Thanks to Trisha, Lorraine, Candy, , and Debbie for your words of support and encouragement. I knew I was right to be so concerned, why is the medical community so stupid about plagio? We are waiting for a prescrip. and a letter of medical necessity from our ped. in order to get a casting. I've called the past two days to fax it over ASAP! We are not waiting for insurance approval ( to get the ball rolling) but at CT they've said AEtna should give us approval in about an hour! This is the first letter of mn our ped. has written for plagio. CT gave us 5 sample letters to show him and I also wrote up something based on CT's recommendations. I was relieved when Cranial Tech told us our ped. could write the info. It takes weeks to get an appointment with a neuro or cranial facial surgeon and baby, I want ACTION! Trisha, I called you famous because I joined the group a few days ago (before I posted myself) and you post a lot and seem to know quite a bit about those insurance goofballs! So you are famous to me! Best of luck in your fight! I liked your idea about getting this covered in network by saying CT is the only provider in my area. What if AEtna says you could have gotten a starband? or locally made one? (Starbands from their own literature work best on younger babies, and Amy is over 1 yr. old and I want an experienced clinician!) Thanks to all and like you I want my voice to be heard! Guest guest
Ellen, Glad to hear that the ball is rolling and that your ped is helping you out with an RX and a letter of med nec - that is great. I hope that your insurance co will approve you as quick as CT says - that would be such a relief!! Best wishes and keep us posted.
