Guest guest
first welcome to the group I am so happy you have found us- is 5 months and that is a wonderful age to start this process and see good results from treatment-whatever route you decide to take. I am proud of you for being such a great daddy and demanding action from your ped-many other members here can sdecribe their ped's with the same "loving" adjectives you have so you are not alone. In addition you are not alone in your feelings angry hurt enraged sad scared frustrated, etc., etc., we have all been there. That will make you finding this group all the better we are a great source of support information and experience and we will be here for you every step of the way to help in any way that we can. I cried for weeks when we realized we had to go forward with treatment for our son and was so very scared for him and what he would have to go through to get better. A year later I can tell you it was worth every tear and heart ache and this little monster doesn't remember a thing-adjusted beautifully and has a great looking noggin' to boot so trust me -- when I tell you things will all be fine. But I know it doesn't feel that way right now. You've done great so far demanding further evaluation and treatment so that is great. To determine severity-could you scan some pictures of your handsome fella into the computer for us to take a look and we could give you our opinions based on our experience. The fact that he doesn't have any bossing (protrusion) on his forehead is a good sign that he may be mild-moderate plagio but it would be hard to determine without seeing some pictures. So ifyou could post them that would be great. If you cant you may want to tap into the folders section and look at some other members kiddo's and see if there are any resembling your son's head shape if so we could let you know what their head shapes were considered. Now-could you give us more info about you guys and your son and where you are form. Who did your ped refer you to and when is your appointment? If you have a DOC location close to you and are consideringhelmet therapy they could do a free evaluation of your son and tell you the severity and if helmet therapy would be an effective treatment alternative for you. In the meantime start repositioning so he is off that flat spot - I am going to include some links here-to the files section to head shapes to repositioning techniques and more. Once again we are glad you are here-please feel free to ask any questions and vent as often as you like.
