Guest guest
I'm a newbie too, my daughter Amy doesn't even have her band yet, but we just went to a Cranial Technologies office. Go to their website- cranialtech.com or cranialtechnologies.com or search under positional plagiocephaly. We went for a free consultation and finally got the affirmation we were waiting for. After 2 visits to the neuro. who just eyeballed her and gave his diagnosis, CT will measure your son for cranial vault asymmetry, cranial base asymmetry and facial asymmetry, if 2/3 measurements are over 6mm, they recommend banding, or at least they did for us. This may vary site to site. Maybe the group can add more. Don't wait! Someone else gave us this same advice and it was the best thing we ever did. Your son is just at the right age for treatment, don't give up hope. I have already gotten good advice and support from this group. Also, at CT we saw a wonderful clinician and they can point out things you don't even notice. Amy's head had a curve on top we never saw and one eye was pushed forward more than the other. They are trained to see these asymmetries and can tell you severity. You as the parent know what is right for your son! You just need to see someone sophisticated in treatment, unfortunately, the medical community isn't getting this one right. Even if your neuro. on Monday says " don't worry " still see CT or a craniofacial surgeon. From our experience, if developmentally and neurologically everything is fine, a neuro won't be as concerned.
