, We saw Dr. Day and were a little disappointed. He was not willing to go to bat for us at all when it came to fighting insurance. He basically said they won't pay so he wouldn't even write a letter for us. My twins have mild tort and moderate/severe plagio, which by the way was caused by them being full-term, big babies who experienced major intrauterine constraint, so we just used a copy of his medical notes as our documentation for medical necessity. We have a follow-up appointment with him next week, but I'm not sure why we are even bothering. Sara is graduating from her band today, and Sam will be done next week, and we still have not heard back on our insurance appeal. I would really push the issue with Dr. Fearon and try to get his help with fighting your insurance. Let me know what you think of Dr. Fearon, and maybe I'll pass the info on to my peds office so they can start referring patients to him instead of Dr. Day. Good luck and I can't wait to meet you.

RE: Gail...NEWS STORY!!!! I am in shock!!!

Hi ....We were going to see Dr. Fearon to begin with but went to Dr. Day instead Dr. Day got us in quicker and he ordered X-rays before our appt and was a little more thorough w/ us even before we went in. I do not know Dr. Fearon so I cant say anything about him, except I have heard he was a good Dr. I just felt better that Dr. Day wanted to do the x-rays first so he would have them at our first appt instead of having to come back again later...Dr. Day is at Medical City also...he works w/Dr. Genekov & Dr. Salyer they are the actual surgeons .... Dr. Fearons office is next theirs also...it is in Medical City in building C. I can not wait to meet ya'll either...This is exciting. Trisha

Trisha,

We will be moving to . It is about 15 minutes south of Fort Worth. McKenna was born Nov. 1, 2001. She was diagnosed with tort at 2 months. Luckily when I asked our ped about her always looking to the left, he knew what it was. Repositioning has helped with her plagio, but now that she is so mobile it is a lot harder. We are trying to get approved for the DOC. Our insurance, First Health, just denied us. They said they need more info for medical neccessity. So we have an appointment with Dr. Fearon, a cranio-facial surgeon, on the 21st. He is located in Dallas around Medical City. Hopefully he can appease the insurance. I can't wait to get together and meet all of you from the metroplex once we move. Thanks again for the info for PT's.

Gail & ,

I to had the same experience w/Dr. Day .... his words were "I am heavy handed but this report is ALL you will get from me" I did not like that. I too would LOVE to hear how Dr. Fearon is...if I have to I will go to him too...for follow up....I have talked to another mom here in Dallas (not on this board) and she had the same Problem w/Dr. Day...she said he is not willing to go to bat and do the letters because he doesn't want to ruin his rapor (spelling) with the insurance companies....I am all about finding the best Dr's...I thought Dr. Day was nice and very thorough w/our exam however I TOTALLY agree w/Gail on the not going to bat for his patients....If Dr Fearon is pretty good I would love to hear about it so I can check into my follow ups w/him....so here again I am w/Gail...Trisha

Trisha,

Hearing your and Gail's stories, I feel so relieved about not going to Dr. Day. Hopefully yall can get your peds to stop sending people to him. Sounds like a waste of time to me. Hopefully Dr. Fearon will be better. I will definitely let you all know.
