Pattie,

This has been a topic of confusion recently because some parents never seem to hear the word "torticollis" and are just told its tight neck muscles. Just like your search for plagio last year not panning things out, if someone is not given the correct name of the medical condition, they may not understand or may underestimate the consequences that can arise if tort is left untreated! I am thankful my ped at least told me the term torticollis and I was able to get so much info on the net. My nuero admitted to me that he was not that aware of the condition, and thought my internet education was great in guiding me towards resolve for my son, even going so far as saying he didn't help much! My ped thought otherwise. She was skeptical of me getting accurate information- but many Docs don't want to see their patients get a quickie course where they paid $$$$$$$ and spent many years to earn that degree and take on the all-knowing God complex. Just confirms that you really have to be your own health care provider!

Thanks guys for the replies.

Marci- I think the repositioning worked for because he was

also getting alot of physical therapy too. One good thing about

daycare policy in Alabama is that babies are not allowed to be in the

same position for more than 30 minutes. That means if a baby is in a

swing now, he or she would have to moved to something else (such as

on the floor for tummy time) after 30 minutes. That helped alot too.

We even followed that same thing at home, but we actually limited the

time more (mostly to 15 minutes) The only exception is when he would

nap. But then at naps we would reposition him too.

- I wish I could shoot every doctor that says " It'll go away "

or " Don't worry " . In regard to torticollis, I have read several

medical textbooks that refer to it as " a stiff neck " which gives a

doctor the impression that it will go away by itself. Although in

most textbooks, if the doctor just had a " Current " copy they would

have the correct info. Unfortunately that is a problem with some in

the medical community- not having current info. Take plagio for

example, when my son was diagnosised there wasn't a whole lot on the

web a year ago (that was plain english so I could understand it).

Today when I do a search on , I'm blown away by all the

different sites and info I can pull up. Now imagine the doc who books

haven't been updated in this past year- he'd be losing out on all the

new info. You'd think they could afford a new library of books each

year but how much they charge! LOL :)

Pattie,

That is an excellent guideline for daycares! That should be standard everywhere

and I suppose it is in the good daycares. That is something I will most

definitely try if is ever fortunate enough to have a sibling! LOL

So true about the medical profession as well. If they haven't looked in a while

then they don't know much about plagio or tort!

Thanks for the feedback!
