Hi everybody.Last week at my son's 17-month well baby check up my Dr. expressed concern about his refusal to walk and told me to get on the list for Early Intervention. This afternoon I get a phone call from a woman to schedule Tommy's CAT SCAN!!! I had no idea that my Dr. thought it was that serious. I am annoyed, though, that she didn't mention it to me at the time of the visit.Anyway, what does a CAT scan look for besides Craniosynotosis? Brain abnormalities or what? I am a little upset. His appt. is this Fri.Thanks in advance,Jill Ramos, Las Vegas, NV For more plagio info
Guest guest
Jill: I would be a bit nervous too, but please don't worry too much at this point. I would call your doctor for clarification. Just say that you are very worried and that you need to know what they are looking for to help settle you down. It's good that the appt. is so soon. Please let us know what you find out! Big hugs! Guest guest
Jill, I wonder if that isn't just a series of tests the State will require to be eligible for the program? I know that they take about 6 hours to evaluate the child (as I was told by EI)- but I'm not sure about the catscan. Maybe just a formality? Hoping that's all- I'm sure someone out in internet land has EI? ' Mom
Guest guest
Jill, The CT scan is to rule out Craniosyntosis that is the premature fusion of the head sutures which would have occured in the womb. If your child has craniosyntosis the banding will not work the have to operated. But it is quite rare and it is procedure to rule it out. Good Luck. We go for ours with my daughter Jessie next week.
