Dana,

We haven't used the Connecticut CT, but we've just been to the NJ office

and were so pleased. We went to CT first, to see if they recommended the

band, then back to our ped. to tell him what we wanted. I would get an

appt. with CT, they can point you to someone in your area who refers to

the DOC Band and you won't waste precious time. Our daughter will have

her band in about 1 1/2 weeks at 13 months of age. We expect 2 bands and

at least 6 months of treatment. My opinion is that if you start looking

for a ped. to help you, you'll hear the same old " it'll round out over

time " and " it's a cosmetic thing. " Good luck! You know what your child

needs and this group will cheer you on. I was on the fence for some time

because I didn't want to think about my daughter with one of those bands

on her head, but deep down, I knew it was what she needed.

We are

working with that office, although I haven’t actually been there in person

yet.  We go for our casting on June 3rd.  I have spoken with on the phone many

times and she told me about Dr. Persing and Dr. Shin who are Cranialfacial Specialists

who work at Yale.  They have a clinic

every Friday and usually Lynn Ball (an Occupational Therapist) from CT is there,

however when we went she couldn’t be there that day.  We saw Dr. Persing who was absolutely wonderful and diagnosed

Timmy with moderate Plagio and wrote a prescription for the DOC band.  We elected not to go see Lynn for our consultation

before the casting because it is an hour drive for us and since Timmy had

already been seen by the doctor, we didn’t feel that it was necessary.  After CT got the prescription from Dr.

Persing, was wonderful and dealt with our insurance company and didn’t

even mind me calling a few times to check if she had heard anything yet.  Also, when we were waiting at our

appointment with Dr. Persing, we met another mom and baby who already had a DOC

band.  She said that Lynn and CT were

just awesome.  She said it was really

relaxed in the office and definitely geared toward taking the best care of your

child.  We were very glad to speak with

her and hear all the details from a mom who was already going through all this.

Good

luck!  If you want, I can let you know

more about the office after our June 3rd appointment.

Has anyone used

CT in Connecticut?

Hi,

Just wondering if anyone had any experience with this particular

office? It will be the closest office, but still about 5 hours+ from

where we will be. I don't know where to even start looking for a

doctor up there. I guess the first step will be to take her to a

regular doctor up there and hope for some assistance.

Dana,

Hey you! So glad to see your post- I'm glad that was able to help you

with the CT office she's using. If you do decide on that route, you can call

CT and get honest information about time tables and growth spurts for kids

over 1 year. We have lots of banded beauties over 1 year, and I hope that

other members will chime in and talk with you about their situations and rate

of progress- I have heard many talk about getting good results! Good luck to

you and I hope your move went well!

keep us posted!

Hi ,

I'd love to hear how it went after your appointment. We are in a

difficult position because we will be living in VT, and that is the

closest office. I did finally find someone who gave me a

recommendation up in the area we are moving to, so that may be the

route we end up going, I don't know. It just bothers me so much that

I listened to the Dr's here in NC and didn't do anything, and now

she's almost a year and her head still isn't as right as I'd like it

to be. I just want the best for my baby, even if it means I have to

drive all the way down to CT.

I hope everything goes well with the casting, and thank you so much

for the response!

,

Thanks. I also went through the CAPPS site and found someone up in VT

who is going to help me up there, She gave me the name of her ped who

she says is really good, and they go to the Childrens Hospital at

Dartmouth. We are going to be calling up there to get an appt even

before we move to hopefully get the ball rolling.

Thanks for everything!

Dana,

We had our casting appointment today. The CT office in Clinton is very nice and Lynn Ball there is wonderful. She was great with Timmy and made us feel right at ease about the whole process. I saw from another message that you might be able to see someone in VT. That would be good so you wouldn't have to drive so far, but if you do decide to come down to Connecticut, you can be assured the place is very nice.
