update on Mackenzie

First off, I want to thank all of you who have responded to my posts

over the past couple of days. It really meant a lot to know that others

cared about how Mackenzie was doing. Secondly, I got a call from CT at

8am this morning to set up a time for Mackenzie to come in for an

adjustment...we're going in at 1pm today. Hopefully, she will do well in

it once it's been adjusted. Keep your fingers crossed! I also wanted to

post a couple of pics from Friday when she received her band...it's now

decorated but at the time it was still the complete white (except for a

Scooby Doo sticker put on by our orthotist, Margie). I will post new

pics of her in it once we get her home and determine that she is

comfortable with it.

Thanks again,

& Mackenzie (soon to be banded - again!)

Hi ,

Glad to hear that improvement has occurred! Hopefully CT will be able to give

you some comforting words about the " ridge " you have noticed. Let us know

what Margie tells you!

update on Mackenzie

Beck,Thanks for thinking of us and sorry for the long delay in responding!Things have been going pretty well for us...for each of the twoadjustment appointments that we've had since beginning the band, it hashad to be shaved for growth! We've been very excited about it. However,we are now currently concerned about a hard ridge that has appeared onthe side of her head where the band closes. I know that others have saidthat it has gone away but it seems so hard already we don't want it topermanently stay that way. Today called in to talk to Margie (ourorthotist here in Phoenix) and she recommended that we go ahead andbring her in on Monday to have it looked at. She wasn't supposed to goin for an adjustment again until July 8th but we really didn't want towait that long and luckily, they found a spot for us on Monday. I've also attached a couple of relatively new pics of Mackenzie in herband...she seems to think that the base to her Intellitable is actuallya seat and one also shows her new fascination with kitchen utensils.I also want to welcome all the new people to the group...and thank allof the "oldies" for always being available to answer any question thatI've had even when I am not posting, but lurking. I've been trying tostay off the computer when Mackenzie is up and going and this hasseverely shortened my length of time on the computer. That is so great to hear how well Mackenzie is doing! What seemed a rough

start looks like now smooth sailing! As for the ridge, I also had this with

, although it was on his forehead. I think Margie is doing the right

thing by checking into it- let us know how it goes.

What a gorgeous little girl!!! You must be so proud. I always stuck my tongue out in every picture when I was a little girl so she reminds me of me. recently found her tongue also so I am sure she will follow in those footsteps. Glad to hear of Mackenzie's progress and look forward to more pics and updates in the future.

Update on Mackenzie

Hi,Hopefully, you all remember us as I haven't been able to post much atall lately due to a very active toddler (13 1/2 months). Mackenzie isdoing great in her band...has had some hair loss on the side of her headwhere the band closure is located...and still hasn't rounded much in thebottom right of her head where the flat spot is. However, her head ismuch rounder than before which is great since she was "older" when shestarted wearing it (10 months 5 days). We hadn't expected much ofimprovement but were definitely hoping for it and it looks like we gotit. At her last adjustment two weeks ago, Margie, her orthotist saidthat Mackenzie should only have to wear it another 5 weeks or so whichwould put us about Columbus Day for getting it off. We can't wait to beable to see her completely...whenever we give her a bath and she has itoff, we definitely enjoy the view! On a side note, we just took her tohave her picture made wearing her band...all other pictures had alwaysbeen without it...I think they came out pretty good - both those with & without the band...hope you enjoy them as much as we do. Genine,

Really this is good news, and considering your ins. will pay 100%- that's great news!!! Especially with Mackenzie at such a great age for correction, I know that you will have no regrets about going further with this process. Our son wore his band a week shy of 5 months, until approx. 8 months, with a guess of 95% correction (I would even say 100%, but don't want to push it! :o) Good luck with the casting process, its a small price to pay for the results that will soon follow. Try to bring Dad or an extra person to entertain Mackenzie while you hold her, and lollipops, bottles, pacifiers, musical toys, are all things to consider to console her- but don't be surprised if nothing does, again, its over quickly and so worth it. Please keep us posted!
