Guest guest
Hi...thanks so much for asking how it went yesterday. It actually went a lot better than we expected. Due to her age (10 months on Sunday) and the fact that she doesn't like to be held down for simple diaper changes, we thought that it would be quite the struggle. She definitely wasn't happy but handled the laying down part quite well. She sobbed but was drinking her bottle at the same time. My husband said that he didn't have to hold her down at all...just keep her hands from going in the plaster. However, when she was sat up, Mackenzie got more upset. I think because she couldn't drink anymore and that she couldn't see. I have to say though that one thing that helped was me humming the lullabye we use to get her to relax before going to bed. It made a noticeable difference. I was quite pleased! As soon as the cast was off, she settled down quite quickly after getting her breath back and she totally relaxed while in the tub. We had brought her own rubber ducky as well as the lavender bath wash we use on her at home. I think they both helped. Margie, the OT, said that anybody who thought Mackenzie didn't need the band should see the mold of her head. It was quite remarkable to see it in " black & white " especially when it was set down on the table and it automatically rolled to her flat side. We took pictures of the mold and also during the whole casting process. Once gets those scanned in, I'll post them. Right now we have an appointment on the 28th to go pick up her band. I can't wait for her to get it and start the improvement! (mom to Mackenzie - soon to be banded!) Phoenix, AZ
