Well, it's been awhile since I've posted as we've been trying to get the ba=

ll rolling.

Old news was that our pediatrician referred us to  " the only doctor in KC th=

at deals with plagio " .  An

appointment was set for the end of July.  Neither my husband or I were happ=

y with this long delay,

and we got nowhere trying to move the appt. up.

Next we began telling our friends at church about the plagio, asking for pr=

ayer for ny.  Along

the way we discovered that Dr.  Witt at KU Med Center attends our chur=

ch AND that he is recog

-nized internationally for his work with plagio kids.  I phoned his wife an=

d she got me hooked up

with Dr. Witt's nurse.  Our appt. with Dr. Witt is June 3rd!

I might also add that his nurse was exceptionally kind and very well inform=

ed.  In fact, she speaks

to parent groups and pediatricians groups, teaching them about the importan=

ce of  " tummy time "  from

DAY ONE!  She is sending material to my pediatrician.  She noted some stati=

stics that were very

disconncerting, regarding plagio.  She said that a study was done recently =

which noted that some

infants are spending as much as 24 HOURS A DAY in the prone position in eit=

her a carrier, carseat,

swing, etc. I found this to be sickening!  No wonder plagio is so much on t=

he rise. She said that it is

a result of our current, fast-paced lifestyle.

Just two decades ago all these  " baby sitting "  gadgets didn't exist.  So I s=

ay,  " MOM, PICK UP YOUR BA

BY!  The housework can wait. "

She also noted something very important. She said that she does battle wit=

h insurance companies for coverage of

treatment. HOWEVER, she said that it won't be long before insurance carrie=

rs educate themselves about plagio. Not

that it is " simply cosmetic " (which it is not), but that it is PREVENTABLE.=
