Guest guest
Debi, I have just come from reading 's story (you did a fantastic job writing down your feelings and the events that transpired-just everything all together put me right there with you and my heart ached for what you all had to go through), and I am just so happy for that he is doing so well and you finally got some Doctors that were willing to help you. Thank you so much for sharing your story, you can help so many people with explaining what can happen and what did happen in your circumstances. It's nice to look back at a year gone by, and thank God for the miracle that is and the courage and your entire family had during that very scary time. Could you please post a picture of (and ) when you get a chance- those post op pics have left me so sad, even though I know he's all better!!! Thanks again for sharing your story! Date: Wed, 05 Jun 2002 05:51:08 -0000 June 4th, 2002 What a day to sit back and really count my blessings! One year ago today, I brought my son who then was 18 months old, home from the hospital. We had Positional Plagiocephaly and by the time we got the band on, it was to late for the progress we needed to correct his eye sight and cross bite. So we opted for surgery. We went into Phoenix Childrens Hospital on June 1st, 2001. What a day. He was in surgery by 9:00 am and out by 2:00 pm. I think for the first time in my life, I realized just how miraculous and extremely strong babies are. I always knew they were special and could handle extreme circumstances. Any way to make it short., I justed need to touch base and to give a little of what was given to me over those many nights I sat in tears and felt know one would understand just what I was feeling. Then I found this group and the support I received and the advice and the kind and friendly words were way beyond and explanation. I don't know if I would have made it if it wasn't for this support group. So from me to the people who are signing on for the first few times, keep the faith, keep coming back, don't give up hope, take a deep breath and hold on. You are about to take the ride of your life. One that will be worth it. For those of you who were there, thank you for all you have done for me and my sanity. You are wonderful. May happiness and sunshine always be yours. Now for a quick update. came home from the hospital on June 4, 2001 about 10:30 am. We have had nothing but progress since that wonderful day. We are totally and completely satisfied and couldn't have asked for better results. had some dental work that needed to be done. He had 4 teeth pulled, 4 Crowns, and 7 fillings. I swear this is the child my parents wished upon me. He is starting to look more like an investment?????!!!!!!!????? Just Kidding. I would go through it a million times over to see his beautiful smiling toothless face. I wondered for the longest time if he would have any trouble in other areas due to the surgery, reading, writing, talking, etc.... But as of today, he is on schedule or more advanced. Thank God. We went to Disneyland over the Memorial Holiday and had the most wonderful time. Things are back to normal and I think I might be going back to work in July. I haven't worked since I was 4 months pregnant. Talk about nervouse. I told my husband I needed a break, I needed a job. He laughed. will be 3 in November. And he is all Boy and all Two. Well I need to go. Take care and I Love You for all you have meant to me and what you have done. Guest guest
Debi, You have such an amazing story, and thankfully one with a happy ending. I'm thrilled for you. I'm a little curious about something I read in your story. I was reading it at midnight last night, so maybe I missed something due to my sleep deprivation. You mentioned that the ped who brushed you off so many times quit and went to work for Cigna. By any chance was Cigna your insurance company? If so, did they hassle you about paying for the bands or the surgery? I would be curious to see if you compared the cost of the surgery to that of a band. I hope this doesn't open up any sore spots for you, but it is a hot topic around our house right now. Gail, Sam and Sara's mom
