Guest guest
Hi Kerri & welcome to our group! We're happy to have you with us. I really am very surprised to read of so many patient's primary dr telling parents not to worry, then if you see a different Dr. in the same practice, he or she is immediately concerns. Strange isn't it? I am happy though that your 2nd Dr. addressed your concerns & has referred you to a specialist. Do you have an appt with the specialist yet? Have you attempted repositioning to keep her off her flat side? I see you live near Chicago, you might also want to consider visiting Cranial Technologies, mfg of the DOCband, for a free consultation of 's head. The people of Cranial Tech., are very well trained & know what to look for with plagio babies. They would give you their honest opinion and advice about 's head shape. The office in Chicago is actually in Oak Brook, IL. The # if you'd ever be interested in calling is toll free 866-368-8422. That's where I took my daughter for her treatment, I can't say enough great things about everyone there. You can check out their webpage at www.cranialtech.net To answer your questions, many parents have considered malpractice lawsuit, but I've only heard of one case that was victorious for the parents. I'll see if I can find you that link to the article on line & give it to you. Most of us in the group have gone with banding our children to treat their plagio, myself included. Hopefully someone who has not will reply to your post. Again, welcome to our group! Guest guest
Hi Kerri, and welcome to the group! It realy is discouraging to hear more parents are being told to wait things out to see if their childs head improves on its own. Thankfully that new doctor was aware enough of plagio to send you to get a specialists advice. I hope they say positive things too! Its hard to say whether or not you have grounds for a malpractice suit against the original doctor. If you go to the 'Files' section of our webpage, you will see a link called 'Lawsuit'. In this case, the parents were awarded a very large sum of money because their doctor didn't get the ball rolling as he should have. The difference between your case, and the one I just mentioned is that time ran out for these parents for a non-invasive procedure to work. Your daughter, if she needs a band or helmet, is still at a wonderful age to receive a great amount of correction. And I really think that is something that you and anyone overseeing the malpractice suit will have to take into consideration. I think we have had a a few parents who have decided not to seek treatment, I hope they will chime in here and tell you of their experiences. I'm wishin you and luck at the specialists appointment. Please be sure to keep us posted!! Niki Kaylie & Danny (STAR grads) Phila., PA > Hi everybody, > > Just wante to introduce myself and ask a couple questions.
