Guest guest
- That's great news about Grant sleeping off his flat spot. The exercises are working! The dr. told me to only lay Dane on his round side. I never thought about that side going bad! He probably is sitting and off his head the rest of the day in the exersaucer or something, right? I can't remember how old he is. You'll have the band in a couple of weeks, so I wouldn't worry too much about doing damage to the good side. By the time he graduates, he will probably be sleeping on his tummy, so you won't have to worry! You can't get the band wet. I would suggest when he swims to clean the band and stick it out in the sun to dry. Everyone says that cuts down on the stink. You can use that towards his hour off. Don't worry about not answering posts. Before Dane got his band, all I did was ask questions! If we all answered every post, nobody would have time to read them! I promise, once I get some more time and further experienced with this stuff, I will get better about answering others' posts. I hope you all understand. I work from home, plus am a sahm, so I don't have a lot of free time...once my husband gets home and we all eat dinner, I work out and then head to my office to work until bedtime. Plus, any free time in the days has been spent researching, making appts, running around town, etc. for getting this plagio stuff taken care of. I know you all understand that! > I'm so excited...I had to share! I have been using wedges to reposition Grant off his flat side in the crib (not easy with an 8 month old!) and have been doing the exercises religiously...before, he wasn't even capable of letting his head rest off to the right side. Well, I put him down for a nap a half hour ago and gave him a free nap with no wedges (first time I've done that in about 3 or 4 weeks). I just went in there and he's sleeping with his head turned to the right!!!! On his round side!!! Wooo hooo!!! > Question: Do I just keep continuing with him sleeping off his flat side or should I start to alternate side to side? Will I make the round side flat? > Another Question: Is Grant going to be able to enjoy our neighborhood pool this summer? Can he wear his DOC band in the pool? If not, can I do some free time every day in the pool plus his bathtime? I really want him to experience the pool...it gets HOT here...even in the past few days it's been around 90 and very humid. > Thanks in advance! > > > , Mom to Grant (born 9/26/01) > > > --------------------------------- >
Guest guest
, Don't worry about not posting to other's questions here! We all know how busy things can be trying to set up appointments, repositioning and still trying to do your every day to day stuff! Since Grant is going to be banded so soon, I don't think you really will have to worry about causing any flatness to the round part of his head. I'm so glad to hear that he is sleeping with his head to the right on his own! That really is terrific! As for wearing the band while swimming, its not a good idea at all. The chlorine might be to harsh on the foam insert inside the band. We were also told to leave the band off while at the beach because the sea water wasn't good for the band either. I know when I had my babies in the pool, they had had enough of it after about an hour, or an hour and a half. As long as you are not out at the pool ALL day, everyday, I don't think taking the band off for pool time will hinder any correction. Guest guest
Hi : You have NO reason at all to apologize for not " giving " to the group! You give plenty to the group and we are all happy to be able to give back to you our information! You sound to be so busy! As for your question about swimming with the DOCband, no this cannot be done. Cranial Tech highly recommends that you keep the band on him the full 23 hrs a day, 7 days a week. Maybe you could skip the bath on the nights he swims? Of course we've all " bent " the time rules a few times, so the decision is yours!!! I would continue with your great repositioning by keeping him off his flat side. Grant is older now so the chance of the other side of his head flattening is less. It sounds like you're having great success with this. It's very frustrating & cumbersome but the reward will be great!
