Guest guest
, Don't worry about not posting to other's questions just yet. That is why we have some wonderful moderators who have already been through everything, and there hasn't been a question yet that I've seen that at least one of them hasn't been able to answer! I am not the most knowledgeable person about plagio, so I pretty much just keep my mouth shut around here unless I really know. As you go along with the treatment, you will learn so many new things, so as time goes on, you will be able to answer others' questions if you so wish. I work out of my home office too. I'm not too sure how much better I like it, as I work from time I get up to the time I go to bed, sporadically. As for the DOC band in the pool, I'm pretty sure that you can't put it in water, so I'm sure leaving it off to go swimming would be okay. I just went in there and he's sleeping with his head turned to the right!!!! On his round side!!! Wooo hooo!!! Question: Do I just keep continuing with him sleeping off his flat side or should I start to alternate side to side? Will I make the round side flat? Another Question: Is Grant going to be able to enjoy our neighborhood pool this summer? Can he wear his DOC band in the pool? , Oh I know that felt so good to see Grant turned to his right!!!! Congratulations on this HUGE milestone!!!!!!!!!!!!!! This means your hard work and therapy is working-yeah!!!! Keep up the great work! I had the same problem once did turn left, I worried about flattening that side too! But, I'm sure you'll find that Grant still favors the other side, but now has the ability to turn right, so I would still keep him off that flat spot because the ratio of him laying that way is probably still a lot less than his preferred side where the flat spot is. The less time on that flat spot, the more chance it has to round out without constant pressure on it. As for the pool, you can't go in with the DOC band, don't even let it get wet except when you clean it with alcohol. But I would personally take 20 min. of your day to enjoy the pool with Grant- we want treatment to work but we want to enjoy life too. But again, I wouldn't do it for more than 20 min. and I wouldn't make it a daily thing- totally your own judgement call (CT probably thinks I'm a big no-no!!). Have fun in the sun! Guest guest
, Grant will not be able to wear his band in the pool (it shouldn't get wet) but we were told that taking it off occasionally for swim time wasn't going to hurt, so don't worry about it! On days when we went swimming, we took the band off and still gave him his bath, but we would put his band back on him sooner after his bath than on other days. I'm sure Bob and Jan at RDA will be supportive of that. Keep cool! I promise, once I get some more time and further experienced with this stuff, I will get better about answering others' posts. I hope you all understand. I work from home, plus am a sahm, so I don't have a lot of free time...once my husband gets home and we all eat dinner, I work out and then head to my office to work until bedtime. Plus, any free time in the days has been spent researching, making appts, running around town, etc. for getting this plagio stuff taken care of. I know you all understand that! I'm so excited...I had to share! I have been using wedges to reposition Grant off his flat side in the crib (not easy with an 8 month old!) and have been doing the exercises religiously...before, he wasn't even capable of letting his head rest off to the right side. Well, I put him down for a nap a half hour ago and gave him a free nap with no wedges (first time I've done that in about 3 or 4 weeks). Another Question: Is Grant going to be able to enjoy our neighborhood pool this summer? Can he wear his DOC band in the pool? If not, can I do some free time every day in the pool plus his bathtime? I really want him to experience the pool...it gets HOT here...even in the past few days it's been around 90 and very humid. Guest guest
Wow, Kellie...I can relate to feeling like you are working all the time when you work from home. I used to do what you do...work sporadically from sun up to sun down, but I felt like I was headed for burnout and I felt like I was never getting Grant out of the house. We live in a very active neighborhood with lots of kids, playgroups, etc. and I wanted to participate in those, so I resolved to only work after Lance (my husband) gets home and one full day per weekend. It is still really hard, I end up working until midnight a lot during the busy time of the month (1st - 15th...I am a numbers cruncher...work for a consulting firm that does asset/liability management/risk management consulting for banking institutions)...and miss a lot of together time on the weekends. My husband and I miss eachother a lot . But, it's what we've got to do for now...so I appreciate it. Kelliesmith@... wrote: ,Don't worry about not posting to other's questions just yet. Guest guest
, I can't really help with the repositioning question, but I could hazard a guess. I would think that keeping him off the flat side as much as possible would be best. maybe alternate the non-flat side and the back and then do as much supervised tummy time as possible. Once he has the band it won't matter that much. As for swimming - I believe that the CT folks recommend removing the band for swimming. I think removing it once a day for a dip in the pool wouldn't hurt too much. Maybe that could be your one hour out and you could clean the band at that time. If the band gets stinky then sitting out in the direct sunlight often helps with the smell. You could maybe kill two birds with one stone! Hope this helps!
