Guest guest
Hi again Mandy. My son is also almost 7 months old. I am so worried about how they adjust to the bands. Its seems so cruel to make them wear it for 23 hours a day. My son is a very sweaty baby at night so I worry about that. I read that some mother kind of weaned her baby into waering it all night. Thats what Im going to do... just have him wear it first thing in the morning until his bedtime for 2 days and then keep it on all night. Good luck. Guest guest
Hi! When are you going to have him casted? I am worried about the same thing too. Logan seems like the sweatiest baby! It sounds like we might be going through it at the same time. Will your son be getting a Starband or a Docband? Mandy
Guest guest
I actually had him casted yesterday. He did really well. They covered his head with a big sock with a hole just big enough for his little face to fit through. Then they layered on the plaster srtips soaked in warm water. Then they cut2 inches up the forhead part of the mold.(Careful with those scissors buddy) and popped his head free. Now thats the part he didnt like. He was a lot sweaty and a little dirty.(bring a change of clothes or put him in something you dont mind getting funky. We are supposed to get the helmet in a week. I have no idea what kind of band hes going to wear. Guess I should have asked huh? Anyway we have blue cross through my husbands job and they cover 1/2 the cost. We only ended up having to pay $600. for the whole thing! The Drs. said AJ has to have some physical therapy. Did anyone else have this done? The Drs. said AJ has to have some physical therapy. Did anyone else have this done? Hi and , Sounds like AJ may have torticollis- which is a tight SCM neck muscle. Many times plagio is the result of torticollis- because the child has limited range of motion to one side, may not be able to fully rotate to the left or right, and therefore creates a "rub" on the back that is favored. You should talk with your ped about getting a referral for pt asap. I will attach a few links to give you an idea about tort, and you can also check out the great support group at www.torticolliskids , for more advice and tips. Good luck, this is very important that you treat the tort so that the plagio will not worsen or regress once the helmet therapy is over. Please email me with any questions you many have.
