Guest guest
Hi, my name is Beth I have three boys, Matthue (12), Branden (6), and Ryen (8mo). We live in Kansas City. We (Ryen) were just diagnosed with Plagio on thursday. The doctor told us about this group, so thought I would check it out. We should find out in a week whether insurance will cover this or not (Aetna US Healthcare HMO). My older boys did not have this so it's all new to me, SO if anyone out there has any advice for a newbie Steve (Ryen's Daddy) and I would greatly appreciate it. Thanks, Beth http://home.talkcity.com/KidsKorner/orbeth112470/

Guest guest
Hi Beth! I'm new here also...My son is close in age to your youngest and I live in the Kansas City area! We have a lot in common! My son Grant (born 9/26/01) was casted last week for a DOC band. We live in the southern portion of Overland Park. My pediatrician delayed and delayed referring us on my son, said to change positions, that it would round out, etc. Also, my son had torticollis (likely from intrauterine constraint and/or the birthing process...he was a larger baby with a huge head when he was born...after being stuck under my pubic bone 'with his head cocked to the side funny' {words of my OB/GYN} for 3 1/2 hours of pushing, I ended up with a c-section). The ped really didn't help me at with the torticollis (shortening/tightening of the neck muscle on one side) either. It was when we randomly saw another ped in the practice to get his ears checked that his neck and head were suddenly noticed and became a topic of real concern. Suddenly, we were rushing around to get him seen, diagnosed, treated, etc. before it's too late...ahhh! You know, every time I tell this story I feel like looking for a new pediatrician ...but, it seems to be a common story here, so I don't know what to do on that. Good news is we got a couple of opinions and now we are waiting for our DOC band from Rehab Designs of America (A Cranial Technologies authorized/trained clinic) in KC, MO. The people there are really great. I have heard from a couple of other people in this group from the KC area, too! Welcome and I hope your son does great with the STARband. Does have any neck issues at all? Where is his flatness? Grant's is on the left side, predominately behind his ear. I have begun to notice (as I have joined the head police here) some across the back a bit, too. Grant will be getting his band on the 17th. Hopefully, he'll tolerate it well. I wish you luck and hope we can stay in touch! I checked out your website and your kids are adorable! , Mom to Grant (born 9/26/01)
