Guest guest
Have any of you tried an ORAL glutathione supplement or a supplement regime tuned to help the body preserve as much of its own, endogenous glutathione as possible? (you know that your body manufactures this itself, don't you?) (This is what you might take: Vitamin C several times a day, zinc, hi-dose folic acid, hi dose B12, selenium, Sam-E, Vitamin E, trimethylglycine) That seems to make a lot more sense than some expensive injection.. Lots of high-tech vitamins these days are designed to help preserve glutathione. Vitacost.com has a good house brand (Synergy) or for those on a tight budget, beyond-a-century.com sells a lot of nutrients, vitamins, minerals in bulk. They are not the only one. Look at the life-extension community for the best deals.. Those people are the biggest buyers of these supplements and the market is quite competitive. There are also lots of other, more general vitamins/nutrients that can act to protect the body in various ways in highly toxic environments. Read the literature on slowing down the various aging processes, like cytotoxicity, excitotoxicity, lipid peroxidation and glycation. What seems to me to be a no-brainer is taking lots of antioxidants and nutrients that stabilize the mitochondria and facilitate cell membrane integrity. So, of course, we all (everyone, not just mold sufferers) should be taking fish oil supplements that supply DHA and EPA, as well as lechithin with a high content of phosphatidyl choline. (stachybotrys, in particular, effects the body's membranes, its first defenses in the throat, nose/sinuses, and especially, the lungs, which uses up the body's natural stores of phosphatidyl choline) Choline supplements should be taken with Vitamin B5, for maximum utilization. The best choline source I know of is alpha-GPC choline, but its expensive. But its very good. You don't need much to work as effectively as lots more lechithin. DMAE is also very good, and much cheaper. But I'd also take that with lechithin. We don't know exactly how these mycotoxins work, and lechithin is an essential nutrient, I think. I have been taking a lot of antioxidants, experimenting quite a bit to see which ones seem to offer the most bang for the buck. Here are my personal choices, but everyone is different. I've found that alpha-lipoic acid, at least 100-200 mg, a dose, taken several times a day, seems to help reduce the headaches, nausea, burning, etc. for at least 5 or 6 hours each time. This has been the most effective nutrient I've found to date in reducing the symptoms I get from the mold in my home. Another good one for me has been N-acetyl-cysteine (NAC). But not as much as I take of alpha-lipoic acid. Coenzyme Q10, high dose Vitamin B12 and the unique neuroprotective nutrient piracetam have also been really useful. In particular, Piracetam has been a lifesaver for me, allowing me to regain some of the clarity that I thought I had lost for good. Bought from beyond-a-century, and capped myself, in 000 gelcaps, it is very cheap these days and its worth its weight in gold. If any of you live in houses with stachy, try this miracle 'nootropic'. You'll see what I mean. It helps a lot. Piracetam and its relatives, the other 'racetams' - have a proven track record over the last 30+ years of acting as powerful neuroprotective agents. They improve memory, this is not some kind of hype, its a recognized fact. The only reason you don't see them in stores more is because the US health establishment seems fixated on profitable (i.e. patentable) DRUGS, not nutrients or substances like piracetam that have fallen out of patent protection - that are cheap and effective. Another good one, especially for people with peripheral neuropathy - numbness in the hands and feet, or CFS, is acetyl-l-carnitine. Many studies have shown that ALC, or 'levocarnitine' helps a lot with this, IF AT LEAST 2 or 3 grams a day are taken, especially with arginine. Huperzine A may also help. So may an Indian herb called 'Bacopa' - Do some research on them! There are lots more, but these are the most obvious ones for me to post here. Important: None of these nutrients will in any way lessen the fact that you (we) are being poisoned by mycotoxins, but for those of us who for one reason or another, are being FORCED to be in these environments by circumstances, they MAY help stave off SOME of the damage they do, or at least some of the symptoms of same. The bottom line is you only have one life. Don't let them steal it from you because of their greed. This is just MY experience and musings, I have no qualifications of any kind. I am not a doctor or even play one on TV. Your mileage may vary..
