Guest guest
I love my vitamix. I love drinking smoothies and getting all those healthy fruits and veggies in. I make them all the time in the summer. However, I live up north where the winters are cold. Drinking a smoothy in the winter makes me very cold and gives me the shivers. Does anybody have a warm drink (not soup) that they make from their vitamix? Even the coffee drinks I've seen are cold drinks. Any ideas would be very appreciated. Brrrr.... Guest guest
I make (and am slurping at this very moment) a delicious and HEALTHY hot chocolate in my Vitamix. I grind up some cocoa nibs (health food store) add a squirt of agave or honey (or stevia, sugar-whatever your sweetener of choice is) and some rice milk (you can use any milk you wish) I buzz it up until it is thick and creamy-delish! You could make this with a few cashews thrown in for extra creaminess) You can also add a splash of coffee or espresso, a few berries (raspberry/chocolate, etc) My daughter loves just plain berries buzzed up into a hot drink-it reminds her of herb tea. You can make a hot apple cider by buzzing up an apple or two, splash of water, dash of ground cloves or cinnamon. I like hot pear juice-just buzz up a pear with a bit of water. I was born and raised in England, where hot tea is a staple, but when I developed an allergy to tea, I resorted to other forms of comforting hot drinks. Pretty much, anything goes! Enjoy!! > > I love my vitamix. I love drinking smoothies and getting all those healthy fruits and veggies in. I make them all the time in the summer. Guest guest
Gonna have to try the hot chocolate with some chocolate chips. The other day I didn't want a cold smoothie for brekfast so the tortilla soup that I made for lunch went in my coffee mug. The corn kept getting stuck in the hole but otherwise it was good. Guest guest
Has anyone ever made Mexican Hot Coco with Nestle Abuelita? What would the milk be like if you ran it in the vitamix till the milk was hot? From: [mailto: ] On Behalf Of Navarro Sent: Monday, January 09, 2012 10:11 AM To: Subject: RE: Re: Hot drinks? This sounds yummy thanks for sharing. I just bought some cocoa nibs the other day and really had no idea what to do with them. This is a good idea. Did you just grind them up in the wet container and then continue on. Or should I use my dry container? I am going to try this. Thanks. Guest guest
It will be nice a frothy - like from a coffee shop where the milk was steamed until it has a nice head of foam... Guest guest
Hi: Approximately how long do you buzz them for them to get warm? I also live in the NorthEast. > > > > I love my vitamix. Guest guest
If starting with cold milk from the fridge - set the timer for 4 minutes and leave the room ;-) When you come back, feel the outside of the container - you will know when it is ready when the container is HOT. Check frequently after 4 minutes as milk can get a burnt taste if left on high for too long (ask me how I know ;-) Blessings,Lea Ann SavageSatellite Beach, FL(321) 773-7088 (home)(321-961-9219 (cell)))><'>www.VitamixLady.comwww..com<))>< On Jan 9, 2012, at 8:49 PM, sparky_89_99@... wrote: Hi: Approximately how long do you buzz them for them to get warm? Guest guest
Thanks for all the ideas. I guess I was looking for something chock full of fruits/veggies like a smoothy rather than just something warm to drink. The pumpkin pie smoothy has promise. What about using an orange rather than oj and adding cabbage, zuchinni, carrots, and cauliflower? (I believe cauliflower is the missing 6th " magic veggie " LOL) I'll probably experiment with this. Afterall what fun is a VM if you don't experiment? My fruit smoothies almost all contain cabbage, zuchinni, carrots, and cauliflower in addition to fruit! I had my first green smoothy today and I was really surprised that I liked it! I may see what it tastes like warm too.... (Lea Ann - my 3 are boys too!) Guest guest
No WONDER you're "busy" ;-)I so agree that cauliflower should be included and I've never thought of doing that - WOW! I may have to change my website and add cauliflower into my demonstrations! BTW, a small amount of frozen green beans can't be detected either! 7 magic veggies???Add in a small wedge of beet and it's 8 magic veggies!!!I can only imagine the impact if I actually put EIGHT pieces of veggies in a smoothie at a show!!! Guest guest
Never thought of green beans... Beets you say? I don't like beets. Now I guess I'm going to have to buy some and give it a try! Thanks!
Guest guest
Try a very small piece of peeled raw beet in a smoothie until you adjust to the taste. They are strong. And they make such a beautiful color! Velda On 1/9/2012 7:34 PM, busymomothree wrote: > Never thought of green beans... > Beets you say? I don't like beets. Guest guest
I've been adding a SMALL cut of beet - I'd say the size of 1/2 a baby carrot - for color in my "everything but the kitchen sink" fruit smoothie because it tends to be a little on the ugly off-white color without it. I only use the beet for color - add too much and you WILL taste it. Guest guest
Thanks. I appreciate the tip. I appreciate the whole group, as a matter of fact. I have had my VM for about 4 years and I never knew this group existed. I was recently at Costco and saw a competitor demo and it spured my intrest again in my VM. Through the magic of google I found your website and followed the link here. I've already learned so much. Thank you!
