Guest guest
Only 2 more months with the horrific RSP/case manager at the middle school. Yet she still continues to drive me insane, to the bitter end. Question: IDEA states timelines for various things, but I've yet to see a timeline for either parents who request an IEP meeting (to review, ammend existing IEP), or how long a continuation meeting can take to be scheduled for an annual review. Anybody have any idea? History: 's IEP began on March 14th. We met for 2 hours, and still no general ed teacher had arrived (clear IDEA violation), so at 5 pm we agreed to continue, signed the meeting attendance forms, and then the general ed teacher arrived (she was required to attend a staff meeting that afternoon, somehow RSP didn't check to see if she was coming, just assumed she'd arrive after the staff meeting!) On March 21st, I found out that the RSP had not even attempted to start scheduling " part 2 " and I blew a gasket, sent a demanding email stating it must be schedule by spring break, and occur by April 30th. On March 26th, she replied that we would meet April 24th (for 1 hour, LOL, we didn't even start on goals last time, and we have to discuss HS placement.... let's just schedule part 3 while we're at it!) Today she emailed that the program specialist (administrator) was now unable to attend and she'd let me know a new date. In our district special ed policy and procedure manual (available online, bet they with it wasn't!) it says: > Within 30 days of a request in writing by a parent to review the IEP > (not counting > days between the pupils regular school sessions, terms, or days of > school vacation of > excess of 5 school days). If a parent makes an oral request, notify > the parent of the > need for a written request. So, if we consider the meeting notes as written request, the clock starts March 14th, if we consider my email the request, it begins March 21st.... DEPENDING on how they define " review the IEP " What do you guys think? I've got several versions of emails I am debating, and who to send them to. , mom to (16), (14 DS), Sammy (12) and auntie to (18).... in the house of TEENS!
