Guest guest
Hi Ursula~~ Dale told me to check and see if the brand Lacey gets comes in both a 5% and 10% solution. I asked our doctor and he said it comes only in a 5% solution. Do you know what brand Macey gets? They gave me the actual flap from the box they used so that I'd have the lot number. On that it says Immune Globulin Intravenous (Human) Gammar P.I.V., but the hospital pharmacy sticker says GammaGard. Meanwhile, I think I'll do some searching to see if I can find any info on the net. Thank you for your help~~ Belinda Lacey's mom, (15, CdLS, IgG deficiency) Pittsburg, CA CdLS OSG: Featured Family of August 2001
Guest guest
Sometimes anxiety can make a person breath faster and take more shallow breaths. If it is something like that, the solution may be as simple as watching her breathe to make sure that she is taking even, deep, slow breaths. Also, you mentioned the ears in another post, had chronic ear infections prior to starting IVIG at 17 months, if he were not on antibiotics, he had an ear infection, but after the first few treatments they stopped. I don't think he's had more than 1 ear infection in the last 3 1/2 years or so. We still have an occational go round with the sinuses (which, thankfully, have cleared up with just one week of Biaxin). He had his treatment today and the immuno's nurse checked him out and said he looked great. I just wanted to give you some encouragement about the ear infections by letting you know that 's stopped dead in their tracks once he was on IVIG. Hopefully your daughter will have the same response. It may take 6 months or more to see a difference in the frequency of illnesses, but I suspect that you will see a difference. Hope there is a simple answer to the " weird feeling " and headache. God bless, Wenoka At 01:02 PM 02/17/2003 -0500, you wrote: > >To all, > >I have a question. Guest guest
Sharon, so sorry to hear was in Er. is there quite often for IV Fluids. He gets dehydrated real fast with viral infections... its the fever that wipes him out. Once in a while he says he gets a " weird " feeling when having fluids. He usually has a headache from being dehydrated so I don't know anything about that. When we tell the nurse that he feels " weird " - (he can't descride the feeling - it just feels werid - different than normal is what he says) she slows the drip down and that usually helps. I asked the doctor what might cause this weird feeling and he says it proably has something to do with being dehydrated. To much to fast kinda thing. Hope this helps. How is doing Now? Hi Karin, Thanks for the information, that makes sense. My sister told me the same thing about the headache and dehydration. is doing so well after her infusion on Friday. Today for the first time EVER she woke at 7:30am (10 hrs of sleep) and I did not have to coax, threaten, bribe or use any other tricks that I have learned over the years to get her up. She was so proud of herself, and I was so proud of her!!! SHe said " can you believe how well I woke up today? We are taking these little things as huge triumphs ,because for her they really are. I honestly cannot remember when (if ever) she has woke up easily , without complaining that she did not feel well. Guest guest
thank you!!!! It truly is a blessing from God. I am just amazed at the difference in my daughter. Today was a snow day in Toledo, schools were closed. A typical day in the past would be in bed ALL day, watching t.v. and dozing between naps, and me trying to get her to eat something, anything. Today she popped out of bed, and has an appetite like I have never seen!! I cannot believe this. She had a huge breakfast, and two hours later was asking for lunch. I asked her what she would like for lunch ... I expected the normal I am not hungry routine, followed by my nagging that she really needs to eat something ( I sound like a broken record). Well today she responded with , I would like chicken, mashed potatoes and corn. My jaw dropped down to the floor. I flew to the kitchen and whipped it up thinking this is too good to be true. I called her for lunch and she ate two huge plates. I was ecstatic. I called her dad on his cell phone to tell him about this new " appetite " , he thought we had hit the lottery. I know this sounds silly, but this was so exciting. It gets better........ For dinner she was starved. She ate like there is no tomorrow. Please forgive me if I sound giddy, however this is so wonderful. I thank God for every bit of it. Thank you so much for letting me ramble on. Guest guest
Sharon - big grin from ear to ear reading this. I was also going to comment that you might think of sending the nurse a little note of thank you for the extra effort this infusion and mention in passing to her nurse manager or office manager that her efforts are much appreciated. Guest guest
Thanks Ursula for the suggestion. Her nurse contacts me just about every other day to check on things. I express my deepest gratitude every time we talk, however I do plan on sending a letter to make sure as you put it " those in the know, know " She really deserves the recognition. Now that is doing better I am sure our contact will taper off. We are very blessed to have this wonderful person in our lives. What a difference one person can make. Guest guest
Sandi: Don't know for sure but I don't think IgA changes much or any in response to infection. Though the IgG DOES rise in response to infection, Dr. Ochs in Seattle said that ANY rise in IgG is good, so not to worry about being mildly sick for blood draws. Theory being you won't get a " false " # because if your IgG is going up, that means it's working and that's a good sign, the results have merit. You should probably let your rheumy know how you're feeling. He may want to adjust some of your meds. Hope you're feeling better soon. Guest guest
Jen, I do not think I would wait around to see if this got better, it sound like it is worse to me. You did not mention if you was running a fever or not, but (we all do a lot anyway right) if you are I would get my butt to the doctor and get checked out before this lands you in the hospital or something. If you are hurting in the chest and hacking up crud, this can not be all good I would think. Don't do like I used to and lay around and be miserable and wait for it to go away, I would go to doc and see what is going on. Especially since you are already on medicines and all. Guest guest
Hi there Marilyn! I've been missing you! I guess your computer *did* literally blow up on you! Holy cats! They can cost a few $$ to replace that's for sure. Happy you are back sweety! About my foot. I had been having some really serious pain on the top right side of the right foot for a couple of months. I saw an Orthopedic surgeon back in March, and he looked over xrays of the foot and gave me a Cortisone shot., (in the foot) and said I'd probably need to get some bones in the foot fused. The shot helped for only a few days... then I was living on Darvocet. But, one night nothing touched the pain, and my husband took me to the ER where I was given a big shot of Morphine in one arm and anti-nausea med in the other. Also doc on call wrote out a script for some potent pain patches. the pain was then tolerable for the next two plus weeks. I saw the surgeon again on the 21st. He had ordered xrays for both feet. On Saturday night of the 19th the pain went away...no more pain in that foot since then. I missed having bones fused (for now) by a couple of days. Whew! As of now, it's still " okay. " How is that new hip doing? Aren't you really happy that it's in the past?
