Guest guest
Hi Jenn! You are right - 40/40/20 is not in the BFL book. It means: 40% of one's calories from protein, 40% from carbs, 20% from fat. Hussman, at his excellent Web site " Why the Body-for-LIFE program works, " which Bill recommends, states that the BFL nutrition program seems to target about 40/40/20. Hussman's Web site is at http://www.hussman.com/eas and is well worth reading. Energetically, > Hi All, > I have a question. What is 40/40/20? I didn't see it > in the BFL book. Did I miss something? I really like those Sing-A-Long videos by Disney. They have this one where they sing-a-long in Disney world (or maybe it was Disney land??)... anyway, I think it's a blast! The kids I babysit for love it! Sara

Guest guest
: Is he ill? Allergies kicking in? and...is he going through puberty? Since it's a short period of time (2 days) that behavior has changed, my thoughts go first to simple answers. But you also have to consider what he is communicating---is he feeling like he needs more control? Not listened to? Are there choices in his day? You have to look at the 3 or more events prior to the aggresssion or inappropriate behavior to begin to look for a pattern that preciptates the behavior. But at least out here, it's the worst allergy season in years......... hang in there. j
Guest guest
Hi , Using an essential oil " neat " means to put it directly on the skin without diluting it in a carrier (oil, water etc.) first. There are very few essential oils that can be used safely that way. If you are interested in using essential oils, there are many knowledgeable people here from whom you can learn a lot. There are also a lot of wonderful books available on the subject -- I know, I have built up quite a collection :>) Sydney Question Hi: I have a question (sorry for my stupidity). You keep talking about using EOs " neat " . What is " neat " mean? Thanks,
Guest guest
Hi , I haven't read all the posts yet, so you may already have received an answer to your question. " Neat " simply means applying essential oil to your skin without diluting it first with a " carrier " as is the usual practice. I will add that the only e.o.'s that are regularly listed as safe for neat applications are lavender and tea tree. Good luck! Guest guest
It sounds like it could be all the above. i know next year Hannah will have a different class teacher, and i'm not looking forward to that as she has had the same one for two years, but i guess she has to change sometime. It seems like your child is getting older and her friends are getting older too, and this brings problems, when you have a special needs child. your daughter knows she is different, and the other kids can see she is different. i'm not making much sense am i!!!!!, cheryl question Hi All Skylar seems to be having some difficulty this year in grade 4. She had a great year last year and I was so hoping for another one. She has the same E.A. as she had last year(Skylar loves her) but only every other day. The opposite days she has a a new E.A that she had never met before this year. She also has a new teacher, new room and a new play yard. Anyways, she has been acting up in class being very loud, shouting out in class and being very emotional, even if it is her familiar E.A. This is very unlike Sky. Now I have heard that there are some children making fun of her and I am starting to notice some changes in her body. I am wondering if it is the teasing, hormonal changes, the different E.A. or all the above. I am at a loss. This is so unlike her. The last time she had anything like this was when she was in Grade 2 and she had 2 teachers that took turns working during the week. I was just wondering what everyones opinion is??? I am looking for answers so I would very much like to hear your ideas. Thanks Tracey.

Guest guest
Hi .... my first thought while eading your post was the hormonal component... of course all the changes could contribute too. I saw Temple Grandin speak last year and she said that as she entered adolescence her anxieties and depression came out and she felt she needed meds to get a handle on it. Just a thought... good luck! Lyn
Guest guest
Irma, Thanks for the warm welcome, and what are DAN doctors? After reading some of the posts it seems we probably fit right in. How do you get a dual diagnosis? The autism spectrum seems so wide and confusing. We are eliminating the dairy ourselves but I think we may need help from a nutritionist for food allergy's eventually. It is so hard I can't imagine trying to eliminate wheat, gluten etc...We have an appointment with a pediatric developmental doctor in November who specializes in Down Syndrome. Some of you may know him Dr. Capone at Kennedy Krieger. It will be our first visit. Diane (mom to Roe 5ds & Danny 7) in Virginia

I'm just taking a quick glance on the computer as its my husbands turn to use it. Yes, I'm glad you feel that way in fitting in . I second that and you will see that many can relate . ttyl . Hope I wrote them right . Luck with reading info , at least you'll understand on your visit to Dr. Capone , it'll help to follow his diagnosis and the after visit at home on following through . Your mind will not be empty . Good Luck with your visit with Dr.Capone . Keep us posted . How do you get a dual diagnosis? The autism spectrum seems so wide and confusing. Many here could answer this or how they approached this . I do understand where you're coming from , we were all in the same boat when we ran across this dual dx. So much information out there and our list has so much to share . Starting with the Disability Solution Newsletters . Don't forget to glance at the files on our list that Joan has posted . I've confronted doctors , nuerologists , plus many others and finally they saw where I was coming from . I've gotten their statements of the dual dx . Make sure you start a file on keeping all your information on hand for future references . A big plus everything in writing , which I've just used this past week at school . You will get your answers with Dr.Capone's visit on the dual dx . But, its always nice to hear from others of what has worked or warnings . You are in the right track , even if we all do not answer to everything . We are always here with open arms and ears (eyes) : ) . Take care . Irma, 13,DS/ASD. Guest guest
Thank you ALL for taking the time to give me your opinion/suggestions for the hip-popping (no...not hip-hopping - LOL) I've been experiencing. I have noticed it started about the time I started by aerobics/wts. class 2X/week, so maybe there's a move in there somewhere that is causing it. As long as it doesn't hurt, I guess I'll just mention it to my Dr. the next time I see him. Thanks for the advice!!! Caroline, who SQUEEZED in BL7 in a 28 minute time window I had between kids getting on the bus and driving one to school. Phew!

Guest guest
LeAnn The Bowen Technique is an alternative therapy that originated in Australia. It consists of a few gentle movements on the body, the thoery is that is encourage the body to heal itself, and usually with only a couple of sessions. It has been a life saver for me and has completely transformed my life, if you want to find out more check out www.bowtech.com and I would recommend it to anyone to try out if you've exhausted conventional methods. I still go for treatment every few months when I feel my body start to stiffen up and get any aches and pains, and I think it's THE best thing for stress relief. For me here, it costs about the same as for a massage, is lots more relaxing than a massage (IMHO) to me and lasts a weeks. Jill who cannot understand why fiends I've recommended it to will not try it out, I guess they can only be happy living in pain and discomfort. > Jill, > What is Bowen therapy? > > LeAnn > > >
