SOS--Help, Updated

I know I'm going to miss you tonight, Lea Ann, because you're on Eastern time,

but the day has been a crazy one. However, I did want to let you and Eileen know

the outcome of my conversation with Vitamix way long ago this morning.

I don't remember the name of the Customer Service rep, but she was very pleasant

and had a most musical, beautiful voice. She stated to me that sometimes, over

time, the blades can come loose, and that is what she thinks happened in my

case. The solution she posited was to send me out a " tool " that will enable me

to screw the blades back into the container. She assured me that I would be able

to accomplish this without much of a problem. She also stated that she knew my

kitchen must have been a mess as a result of this incident (a major

understatement), and she was sorry about that. As a way of compensating, she

would include a complementary set of spatulas with the " tool " she was sending

out to me.

It did occur to me to tell her that I would just prefer a new container, but

then I thought, Just give her plan a try and see what happens. I also like the

idea of having a " tightening tool " (my words, not hers), because now that I know

this kind of thing can occur, I will periodically tighten *all* of my

containers. I don't ever want to have such a mess in the kitchen again. And in

the event that, after receiving this tool thingie, I get any kind of " bad

feeling " about the whole thing, I will call Vitamix back and tell them that, for

safety's sake, we'd better go with a new container. She also told me that I

could go ahead and use the 46 oz container without worry. So that's where it's

at. It should be here within 7 or 8 days.

I guess Vitamix, like all of us, is trying to keep down costs as well. I am

curious if you have heard of this before? I will certainly let you know how

things go once I receive the tool and attempt to fix the container.
