Guest guest
Hello Everyone, I came across this group after searching for information about being sick from the mold and fungus left behind from the hurricanes. I worked as a debris monitor through Ivan, Dennis, and Katrina. While working I became sick. I kept working thinking that it was just the flu. Thing is it has never left. Katrina's cleanup hit me hard. I developed a severe temperature, coughing, astmatic conditions to the point my chest felt like it was squeezed so tightly I could not breathe. I am so tired all the time now. It has not went away entirely either and it's been weeks. I was working in one of the harder hit areas along the coast. Mold, fungus, rot from food, open sewer drainage, abestos from old buildings you name it, all combined together. The company I worked for did not provide us with any type of mask to work in. No flyers, information, nothing about the possible conditions and health threats that might arise. What I have learned I have learned from the internet. Needless to say I am upset, and don't know where to turn. I don't have insurance and now I don't have a job. Any suggestions? I need help to clear this up because it is a fight each day just to take enough over the counter medicine to function. Thanks. T.
