Guest guest
<<I have a question for those involved in retail sales. Have any of you noticed a decline in your overall sales compared to last year? If so, is it drastic or slight? What do you think caused it? >> I'm hearing from *a lot* of soapmakers that their sales have been down slightly since the first of the year. Interestingly, several of my U.S. vendors have mentioned the same thing. Melody Rainbow Meadow Inc.™ http://www.rainbowmeadow.com Essential oils, Waxes, Salts, Containers, Hydrosols, Scales & More! Guest guest
This is the neatest thing I have ever done. I sent her two bars of my very best soap, and even though we were standing worlds apart we had that common thread of soapmaking, and were holding each others handcrafted soap in our hands. I used one to bathe with but the other I'll keep in my soap museum and treasure forever!! >> Oh wow Marcia, that is just so cool!! Guest guest
That is so cool! I bet you'll have trouble using it! That looks like Dutch or something, don't you think? http://www.soapourri.biz Speaking of Africa though, I did receive a email from a young man in Africa. His mother made goat milk soap and he encouraged us to do a trade. This was the neatest thing! I received two small round soaps, wrapped in brown paper and then wrapped with a raffia type string. They have a glob of sealing wax where the label is tied on. The label is made out of a kind of zebra looking paper and on the inside of the label it says: Bokmelkseep gemaak van natuurlike bestandele soos olyfolie, byewas en bokmelk in die hartjie van die Klein Karoo. I think it says the list of ingredients, and that it was made in Karoo?? This is the neatest thing I have ever done. Guest guest
Marcia, that is so nice! I am from South Africa, but far away from the Karoo. I would actually love to arrange a soap swap in South Africa! The Karoo, just by the way, is in South Africa. Africa does not form part of South Africa as such, but are separate countries around South Africa. Us in Gauteng province, have to travel through the Karoo to get to the coast in Durban Natal. PPleaase do not laugh at me, but Goats Milk Soap has turned out very expensive for me! I bought a 500g tin of Goats Milk which cost me R60.00 (about $7.50). I made two batches of soap and the rest I ate out of the tin on the sly! I can't resist the stuff! Smilies Louise soap sales Hey Marge, that would have been a great idea to get a copy of his credit card, he did fax me photo I.D. We had many conversations per email, but when I processed the credit card, the order went out the same day, and that was the last time I heard from him. Then the charge back arrived. Live and learn! Hope everyone's Mother's Day was a wonderful as mine! And, as promised, I DID NOT make soap on Mother's Day! <VBG> Speaking of Africa though, I did receive a email from a young man in Africa.
