Guest guest
First a cheerful note. Today Jan went off with family friends on a bike ride to the movies to see Hunger Games " . She will put in about eight miles on a bike trail. At this point, she is not particularly sick is going on life as usual without emphasis on the problems, although we have talked everything over with her. The mass that worried them in her head is a myloid sarcoma which has a lot of bad white cells. Late next week she will start radiation therapy which the radiologist is pretty confident will completely remove it with relatively low doses or x-rays over a couple of weeks. That will fix the immediate problem, but clearly there is some AML lurking that the bone marrow transplant failed to remove. The plans beyond are tentative, but she will have relatively mild chemo and then a lymphocyte transplant from her brother's blood. It is a relatively mild approach and is pretty much agreed to by three separate oncologists, two of whom know her very well. I've just started her with a camera and in two days she snapped 160 or so pictures. Not great art yet, but I expect to get some really good ones in time. I hope this will add interest to her hikes, which are part of normal life in our family. Rick
