Guest guest
has just turned 4 and is having an issue with one eye turning quite a bit. The Doctor said that the solution is glasses. His vision is actually pretty good +1.5 I can't imagine him keeping glasses--he has just recently started to tolerate wearing a hat : ) How old was your child when he/she started wearing glasses? Did you feel he/she needed glasses earlier, but didn't attempt? Also, anyone else have the turning eye issue and how was it resolved? Thank you! Guest guest
My daughter is now 3 and has worn glasses since she was 10 months old and at times it is a battle. When we go out we will try to have her wear her glasses, but if she resists we usually don't push to hard because she will throw them, etc. and we can't afford to constantly replace broken glasses at over $400.00 a pair.( Insurance did pay over half) There are times at home when we do insist she wear the glasses; if she takes them off we put them right back on over and over as necessary. We never thought the time would come, but there are now times when she will leave them on for about 45 minutes. She has learned that if we are going outside to play in the yard she has to wear her glasses and hat. If she keeps pulling them off we come right back inside so we don't usually have a problem then so I know she can learn to wear them more, but it is hard. My daughter's right eye turns in most of the time, but her eyes do alternate. This has been a problem since birth. In her situation the most common treatment is surgery and glasses, but we have opted for glasses and vision therapy for now. You can google vision therapy and find out more info. if interested. Good Luck, DeAnne
Guest guest
Nick (now 18) wore glasses for about 2 or 3 years. His eyesight was excellent; however, he needed the bifocals because his eye was turning in. With the use of the glasses his eyes quit turning in, the biggest issue we had was keeping the glasses off Nick once he no longer needed them. Cari Shepard cmancari@... Guest guest
Thank you everyone for your input. We are going for the follow up in September and I will go forward with glasses for (God help me! LOL) I'll definitely look into the special frames to hopefully make the experience as comfortable as possible.
