Subject:

Chiropractic is a Miracle and you are a Miracle Worker

Happy new Year chiropractic colleagues,

This year, following Dr. lead from 2 years ago, our clinic is

dumping managed care and committing to sell our wellness services to paying

patients. We will honestly and ethically help patients bill insurance but

managed care is for sickness, not wellness. Beeg difference!

It occurs to me that there are a lot of people out there struggling while

they possess a miracle. Not right!

I recommend Bill Esteb's books for meat and potatoes things to do TODAY to

get your mindset right and take some action.

We do not treat 10% or even 5% of the population. The # of visits per week

compared tot he US

population, is an inaccurate conclusion. Many of those

visits are the same person seen repeatedly. An accurate tally of the number

of unique patients we see is more like 1%. Pathetic.

Further, if we got 5% of the population into care once per week, we would

need to see something like 550 pt. visits per week. Cool.

Dental care went from teeth pulling and some drilling for pain relief to an

accepted regular part of health care in one generation. If you don't take

your kid for regular dental checkups, you are a dirt bag. If you never take

your kid to a chiropractor, it's OK. Wrong.

We perform miracles of relieving people from lifelong debilitating

migraines, back pain, neck pain, asthma, IBS, leg pain, and unnecessary drug

side effects every day. Still we are not as proud of our care as we could

be. Imagine Edison's light bulb; that he was

messing with something that

would be used to make life easier, safer, and much happier for years after

he was dead. Cool. We should feel that good about chiropractic. My soon to

be vanishing Kaiser referrals relegate us to 3-6 tries at ameliorating

symptoms of larger problems. That's not something that these patients will

thank me for 10 years from now. I want what other chiros. Have gotten; the

undying thanks for years to come for health changes and lifestyle changes

that I helped them with over the initial year of care.* A legacy!

*(It takes 4 years to teach a teenager to clean their room, balance a

checkbook, and drive safely. How long should it take to change lifestyle

habits of people who are watching TV every day?)

Believe in yourself and your gifts. Chiropractic is not just " body work " .

It

is a method of setting free systems so complex and powerful that we are only

beginning to understand their reaches. Strangely, our influence on patient's

health is proportional to our intent and confidence. Weird. (See below)

I received a quantum leap in intellectual (and emotional) belief from

attending Chestnut's seminars. They are scientifically based and

chiropractically on fire. They challenge accepted thinking and offer some

fascinating new ways of seeing neurology (Afferent neuro. input being

demonstrably vital to health).

I hope we can get a ton of you guys to his seminar in March. Our success as

a profession requires good lobbying, ethical governing, and excellent

training. We also need durable confidence and certainty that comes from

intellectual and emotional processes.

The Mind/body connection, January 29, 2000

By A Customer

Dr Benson presents strong evidence for what others have called the " mind /

body connection. " Mainstream medical science has not yet recognized the

importance belief plays in health but, Dr. Benson presents numerous studies

that validate the major role belief plays in the healing process and

wellness. Practitioners of complimentary therapies will find this book

especially helpful in understanding how many non-drug based therapies can

work. Well written and thought provoking!

Easy to read, Understand and Put into Practice, March 19, 2007

By

H. Strickland (New Jersey USA) - See all my reviews

This is a well-written book that clearly describes the links between our

thoughts and our physical health. It is written in an accessible personal

style, without the " guru " overtones of works by Deepak Chopra or

Wayne Dyer

(good writers, just with a different style). Everyone, regardless of their

view of God, can benefit from the concepts of Remembered Wellness and the

Relaxation Response described in this book. A personal recommendation -

couple this book, with its " unproven healing energy " , with Greg

Bradden's

" The Divine Matrix " , which describes this energy, and you will be

good to

go.

Excellent!, October 7, 2003

By A Customer

Through many of the medical observations made by the authors, this book

provides some interesting ideas about the connection between the mind and

body. Even though we all know that stress (which comes from our minds)

influences our health, many of us find it difficult to put the mind and body

together in one equation. This book is a great attempt to begin making the

bridge between the subjective and objective world. It is full of insightful

ideas and inspiring anecdotes. Just excellent overall. If you'd like to read

about a sound theoretical framework that explains many of these things, I

strongly suggest " The Ever-Transcending Spirit " by Toru Sato. When I

read

Sato's book, everything clicked so much is was unbelievable!

Faith in God turbo-charges our indwelling healing nature, November 20,

2000

By

World Traveler (New York Metro Area, United States) - See all my reviews

I think what is amazing about this book is that Herbert Benson states

without a doubt that faith in God is healthy for us. While our ancestors

took it for granted that God healed them, as Dr. Benson explains, we have

been taught to see healing purely in technical scientific terms. Dr. Benson

explains that when we repudiated the importance of belief in healing we

deprived ourselves of a powerful healing force.

Dr. Benson knows that his rational-scientific audience will be skeptical of

his arguments. So, he provides us with well-reasoned arguments supported by

ample evidence. He explains that we need to relax our over-stressed minds on

a regular basis. We need this as an antidote to our hurried lives that

stress us out and make us sick. He cites many studies (much from his own

research) that daily meditation stimulates the bodies natural healing

mechanisms.

Now, the radical finding of Dr. Benson's research is that belief in God

makes a difference in healing. If a person meditates regularly using a

spiritual phrase they are more likely to heal than those who use a secular

word such as " peace " . The person's religion doesn't matter. It seems

that

God is an equal opportunity healer.

Great post! I gave up HMOs, PPOs and "contracted" illness care two years ago. Since then my business has grown over 25%, all on cash-based and full body nutrition-oriented whole person Chiropractic care. It's a wonderful road to health both for your patients and for your bottom line. I encourage everyone to get away from insurance and teach people to have faith in their own bodies and the power of Innate to heal. Keep up the good work, .

, good for you brother. You are absolutely making a great move.

Why enable this system of bottom-feeder contracts that disempower us

and by their very design put us in the position of being episodic,

reductionistic, musculo-skeletal pain technicians? It just erodes the

self-esteem of chiros, further deteriorating their clinical effectiveness.

When explaining to my patients or prospective patients why I don't

participate in managed care... (BTW, Kaiser still has me listed as a

participating provider 3-4 years after showing CHP the door...so, I

still get calls from folks and I take full advantage to let them know

what I think about these contracts)....

I tell my patients this:

What is the most popular type of restaurant in the USA? Answer:

Mcs, Burger Kings etc

I then ask them, if they were in the restaurant biz would they rather

own a Mcs (average meal price about 4.75), or would they rather

own a sit-down restaurant/cafe that served healthful, 'slow',

sustainably-grown food (average meal 7 bucks)?

I have NEVER had one of my patients who would rather own a Mcs!

Conclusion: Kaiser, et. al. and their 'CAM' (ASHN and you-know-who

etc.) lackeys= The Mcs of healthcare.
