Guest guest
November 17, 2005 Mold creeps into 2 Brevard fire stations By RICK NEALE FLORIDA TODAY Melbourne,FL http://www.floridatoday.com/apps/pbcs.dll/article? AID=/20051117/BREAKINGNEWS/51117006 Mold has invaded at least two Brevard County Fire-Rescue stations, prompting health testing and repair jobs in Melbourne and Palm Bay. Hurricane Wilma apparently exacerbated leaks in the roof of Station 88 on Medplex Parkway in Palm Bay, spokesman Orlando Dominguez said. Two weeks ago, mold was discovered inside. " One of our firefighters leaned against one of the walls - and the wall cracked. That's because the walls were actually moist, " he said. Dominguez said air quality tests showed mold spore levels fell within acceptable health limits. Workers with the county facilities department should start structural repairs soon, he said. In Melbourne, mold was found in two rooms inside Station 67 on Nieman Avenue. Dominguez said test results from air samples and a piece of wall are pending. The mold also originated from leaks in the roof, he said.
