Seems to me it will be a good thing when our docs use more stairstep than hvla for c/s correction.

Please explain, Sunny. Maybe I am just a little sensitive here but I think you just slammed a very large percentage of chiropractors who do high velocity low amplitude adjustments to the cervical spine. Now this is based on this report of an alleged injury by a chiropractor by a person asking for a billion dollars in compensation? I have heard chiropractors eat their own, now I am beginning to wonder if that is true. Or maybe I didn't understand your comment. Please explain. Rich Layman

it was not meant to insult you ... sorry 'bout that. My difficulty is why do we continue to use the HVLA when it has created such turmoil and misunderstanding....especially given that we have a tool such as the stairstep (for those who prefer hands-on adjusting) that has even less risk.

Sorry if I offended you ..... wasn't intended .... I was just making comment about how we might still the furor.

These type of lawsuits play on fear and ignorance. Perhaps the woman was injured by a poorly performed adjustment. It is possible, if there was underlying pathology, but properly performed HVLA adjusting will not cause damage in an otherwise healthy individual! It is performed within the paraphysiologic range! Just because a clever attorney can make a chiropractor and the profession at large look like murderous fools does not make it true that an HVLA adjustment is dangerous. Show me ANY study which shoes that a PROPERLY performed adjustment is in any way dangerous. Just because you choose to perform what you do does not mean those that choose to perform traditional HVLA are wrong, antiquiated or dangereous. Of course, HVLA adjustments are not the cure all, but in some cases they are the BEST tool.

Persuasion in a court of law does mean squat to me, but I'm sure it would if I were sued! Seitz, DC Tuality Physicians 730-D SE Oak St Hillsboro, OR 97123 (503)640-3724
