Guest guest
Depending on what mood I'm in and where the question comes up, and 'who' is asking... I ask if they 'believe' only in things they can see....I ask them if they believe the pain they have that keeps them from being able to bend over to tie their shoe is real....I ask them to SHOW me the pain....and SHOW me those things that they 'can' believe in.... ......I ask if they believe in gravity.....or in Spring....or Love....or 'credit ratings'.... I ask what basis is it they 'believe' in anything.... I ask if they want to see proof, and and ask just what that proof may be....I ask what would it take to reexamine what their 'belief' is based upon.... I ask a thousand different questions.... I ask them whether they believe the nervous system controls the function of the body, or whether the believe mankind somehow was just barely able to exist for millions of years before Aspirin and Ex Lax....and we whether we should believe aspirin and ex lax was what we should believe in.... I ask whether they feel better after an adjustment, because, yes, " I " believe there is a difference when my body is functioning better after an adjustment.... Sometimes their eyes glaze over....I ask whether they are bored or would like to learn more about how the body actually works.... Some have their minds made up. Some don't want to hear anything. I asked one lady who recently reported her husband 'doesn't believe in chiropractic' whether her husband 'believed' her when she was feeling poorly....and when she said yes, I asked 'can he tell when you are feeling better' and again she said 'yes he can'.... I asked whether SHE could tell the difference....once again she agreed.... I asked her whether what her husband believed in spite of what he could see with his own eyes, should make any difference to how I spend MY day, dedicated to people who DID 'believe' in chiropractic... ....I don't want to be accused of getting into a RANT here.... You will find some way to deal with this kind of question. Happy New Year... J. Pedersen DC
