Guest guest
I'm sorry, , but I have bit of trouble with you trashing on Shoemaker like that. Do you actually know him? Have you been on the protocols he uses? I assure you - he does nothing whatsoever to try to hang on to his patients. He's hard to get to logistically and in a lot of demand. If anything, we try to hang on to him - not the other way around. Some of the other physicians who favor his ideas are also motivated by better stuff than cold hard cash - very decent people who are trying hard to help us. They don't deserve this. On the other side of the coin, you have just wandered into a crowd of people who have in some cases suffered dire consequences from the very neutralization and provocation allergy testing you recommend. I've had plenty of trouble of my own with several doctors accidentally provoking reactions with various fungal-based and antifungal medications. Some of the other people here could tell you stories that would make your malpractice carrier's hair curl. You're certainly welcome to your opinion, and I mean that sincerely. But I'd suggest avoiding calling out other doctors on this board and questioning their personal and professional integrity out of hand like that. What I've observed is that, yes, there are plenty of quacks and whackos out there. I don't agree with some of them, myself. But there are also some very different approaches that seem to work very well for various patients. If proper care was really all that cut and dried and easily available, then we'd all be well by now. > > Kim. I recommend going to an environmental physician. Guest guest
, Who is Kim that you are answering to here? I can't seem to locate the post or was this an intentional Shoemaker bash? I really don't appreciate bashing any physicians that have extended themseleves beyond the normal realm to help their patients. Have you spoken to him, read his research, spoken to any of his patients at length, read his books? There are alot of positives and negatives that comes out of every office. Each patient does what they feel is best for them and what they feel will help them the most and of course what they can afford. Each physician can brag about their diagnosis and treatment/protocol, but what is most important, to the patient and everyone else, is the end results. What the patients say after their treatment holds alot more weight than what the doctors say. Please don't take this wrong, Dr.Rea is an excellant doctor and I have spoken to the office several times about his treatments and results, along with speaking to several of his patients. You left out one of the most important concerns, many patients need to know are his fees. Very expensive, and you have to pay at the time services are rendered. They do not accept insurance and that includes Medicare. You have to file your own insurance, but you still have to pay in full. I could put the cost of everything on this board, but this is from 6 years ago and we can be speaking $8,000-$12,000 the first week depending on what you can afford or what testing is preformed. Evaluation, all the tests, diet, the cost of housing, which can be anywhere from 8 days to 4 weeks. At a cost of $500. per week(housing). This includes only the beginning steps of treatment, what I am getting at here, is who can afford this. 98% of the people on this board can't. I have his information right here in my hand and he speaks of this type of exposure as an allergen. Not a toxic reaction or mycosis or mycotoxicosis. The shots are to desensitize your reaction to these allergens. We are not dealing with allergens, they are toxic chemicals and there isn't any other way to describe it. , how long have you been dealing with this? I would like to hear more of your story and how it has affected you personally, especially since you have the credentials of an MD. Are you treating these patients that have been exposed to these toxins? Will you be studing/learning Dr.Rea's protocol along with other physicians protocol to start treating patients in this situation? I read another post of yours on another group and you had the opportunity to attend a conference, I believe it was either Texas or Arizona, and you had met Dr.Rea, Dr.Strauss and Dr. Gray. A fine group of professionals and highly respected. Look forward to your response, KC, Moderator > > Kim. I recommend going to an environmental physician. Guest guest
" tigerpaw2c " < What the patients say after their > treatment holds alot more weight than what the doctors say. Yes. There are vast numbers of doctors who make absolutely outrageous claims of " cured multitudes " , yet somehow these joyous recovered people are somehow never available for comment and cannot be located. It's amazing how many doctors simply say they are " Believers " in your " XXX " illness and instantly fill their waiting rooms even though they've recently tripled their prices. Sufferers are so happy to find a " believerdoctor " that they are relieved and hopeful that they are finally on the right track after so many disappointments - only to find that when you scratch many of these wondrous enlightened doctors, they itch themsleves just like the dogmatic doctors. I remember ONE particular CFS doctor who made CFSers supremely happy by being a " believer " and even though he hadn't really helped anyone - he was gaining a reputation as a " good " doctor for this reason alone. When I visited his office, I found that one of the treatment rooms had been turned into a storage area for files because everyone who stayed in that room too long became ill, and nobody in the office had any idea why! When I entered the room and told them " This room is a mold slammer " they were interested and at first, I thought I finally had a doctor willing to work with me (instead of against me) but the doctor just revealed his true colors in wanting to charge me while I gave him a mold education. The funny part is that although the people in this office were unable to help THEMSELVSES, they were quite eager to charge for their semi- useless information. Part of their ineffective regimen was dietary intervention. I looked over the suggestions, and asked " These look good, but how can they be expected to help someone whose diet was SUPERIOR to your suggestions at the time they were overcome by illness? " The doctor got flustered and responded " If someone became ill, they must have done SOMETHING to cause it " . So I said " You mean like sitting in that Sick Room you have? These suggestions, good though they may be, do not address the model of illness and only represent a therapy which is not based on any real diagnosis " . I only resorted to 'scratching' this hard after some extensive discussion in which the doctor made it clear that he was " THE doctor " and I was only a mere ignorant patient, but since he had already shown his inability to locate and diagnose his sick office which was affecting himself and his staff - I didn't figure that this so- called " good doctor " was going to be of any use to me. Subsequent contact with some of his patients confirms that his " goodness " is all show and no results. So I believe that finding the right doctor is a combination of a lot of research, both of the doctors methods and his REAL results rather than the ones written in the office brochure. -
Guest guest
, I'm interested in your suggestion to go to environmental doctor, and may want to see one myself. However concerning costs, I've heard that Dr Rea is very, very $$$ expensive and does not take insurance. On the other hand, I really think more knowledge about Dr Shoemaker would convince you he is not a doctors whose goal or even consideration is to keep patients rather than treat them correctly. On the financial part, Dr Shoemaker does take insurance and I think his fees are reasonable, and he does take insurance. So compared to a doctor who charges alot for his services and does not take insurance, you have lost me on that point entirely. barb b > > Kim. I recommend going to an environmental physician. Hi Dr. Nagy, I wanted to give you a heads up that you may not have thought of when you are recommending forms of treatment for mold victims. I have another friend who is a doctor, yet does not practice because of being ill from mold. Still, this doctor has to carry malpractice insurance to the tune of several thousands a year, because mold victims frequently call and ask for advice. Even thought, this doctor does not charge, they still have to be concerned about the liability for offering medical advice. Even though they are not practicing, they have kept their licensing intact so as not to be accused of practicing medicine without a license. Terrible situation, yet this doctor truly just wants to help. So just heads up, you might want to temper your posts when giving your opinion, (just like many of us do). The way I and many others always share what we know is simply by saying...this is what I have found, or this is what has worked for me, etc. In my opinion, you have to be especially careful because MD behind your name may make others inclined to take your words as the gospel. You could have increased potential liability from the situation. WR Sharon

It takes 6 weeks to make from your blood.< Interesting! I told my mold story to a couple of Rea pts who were doing the ALF around five years ago. They knew absolutely NOTHING about mold and were completely uninterested as if the entire mold concept was unimaginable. Neither of them had positive results, but then, as far as I could tell, they didn't understand 'the mycotoxin connection' and so they were making no effort to reduce their exposure. (I wonder how they're doing now?) I was thinking about pursuing ALF until I heard that the Expense/Benefit ratio was so High/Low compared to simply maintaining avoidance, which had proven to be fairly reliable. I'm glad to see that some doctors are trying some very innovative therapies though. -
Guest guest
I don't sweat much in dry sauna. A friend with mold illness bought a steam sauna & said it saved her life. Really made her sweat & said lots of toxins came out. Anyone do this? Also my naturopath gave me desensitizing extract & I am confused because like you said KC, it is the mycotoxins. I'm sure I am allergic too. He is also giving me 02 intravenously. There is this spray called PCA-RX that orally chelates toxins out of the body. It is expensive. Guest guest
I wish you'd be careful with that stuff! Some of those extracts are made with the very same fungi that make us sick in the first place. I got very ill from one of them, and had to let go of that whole idea. And chelating agents are rough on the body, too. Not all toxins are equal. Treating for some does not equate to treating for all. It's one thing to talk about " total load " , and then a whole other thing to talk about taking on all kinds of treatments when you're already sick. None of these things come without a pricetag, and I'm not talking money. Are you talking about metals? Mycotoxins? Industrial stuff? What kind of toxins are you going after? Is your naturopath at all clueful about the kinds of toxins we're talking about here? They are a whole subject unto themselves. (That's precisely what all the kvetching about doctors recently is about, really - all those who claim to know, but don't. Common as dirt, they are. And downright dangerous to sick people, some of them.) All I'm saying is, please be even more careful in cleaning up you body than you are in cleaning up your house. Guest guest
I like an infrared sauna when I can get one, but I usually use a hot bath for my sweating. When I started, it was pretty gross what came out in the water, but after a while, it let up. I really like putting salt in the water, as it seems to help keep things from going back into my skin. I go to an environmental allergist, and I take antigens (sublingual, under the tongue) to whatever I am allergic to, including mold, and it is really helping me. My body was over- reacting to that and almost everything I cam into contact with. I was developing severe allergic reactions to " normal stuff " and the desensitization with the sublingual antigens is really working. I am glad he doesn't do shots, because I have trouble with whatever they think my correct level should be- I over-react to it. So, with the sublingual, I can dose my self to what ever I can tolerate. It changes, apparently due to the mold I get exposed to. So, when I got a major mold exposure last time, I could not tolerate even the drops I had been using just fine. It has been almost 2 months, and I am back up to where I was before. If I had to go to someone else and get shots, I would have to argue with them every time I went in, and I would eventually stop going (this has happened before), due to my extreme reactions to the shots. --- In , Rosser <rossercustomhomes@y...> wrote: > > I don't sweat much in dry sauna. Guest guest
, I have been to doctor Rea @ EHCD and he is very expensive. My opinion of him is " Money first " and a lot of it. I saw him in Feb.05 and I can not afford to see him. I even asked to be seen by their research team and was ignored. I am in very bad shape and have to have IVIG treatments every 4 weeks to stay alive. Do you think he cares..... " no " . Now if I had the money, he would. That is MY personal opinion and rightly earned. I would love to see Dr.Shoemaker because I hear he is a man of compassion not just a doctor. To find that in a doctor now days is rare and from everything I have heard, Dr.Shoemaker is one of those rare doctors and he knows his " stuff " . Sincerely, Marcie tigerpaw2c <tigerpaw2c@...> wrote: , Who is Kim that you are answering to here? Guest guest
It's a known fact that skin is one of the detoxing pathways as well as liver & kidneys. My friend that has the steamer spa said that she saw nasty stuff after she was in it for 15 minutes. She also said it saved her life after mold illness set in. Hope that helps .
