Dear Colleagues,

For those of you who may not of heard as of yet a

good friend and wonderful colleague has passed away unexpectedly Dr. Bob

Hovenden of Roseburg

died at home Tuesday night unexpectedly.

Those of us that had the professional privilege and honor of

knowing Bob know what a stellar guy he was. For me personally he was my

key doctor in the Roseburg area one of those colleagues I knew I could call any

time and count on him always follow through when the profession

needed him.

Know your busy we are all busy but I hope that

those of you who knew Bob will join me and travel down to Roseburg

to say farewell and by doing so show his family and friends our

collective professional admiration and respect.

When I

first came to the Umpqua area in ‘84, Bob was very

welcoming and helpful. He was always helpful with difficult cases. When I moved

to Eugene, I knew I was leaving my patients in

good hands with Bob. I am saddened to hear of his passing.

I remember Dr. Hovenden from when I took the Oregon boards in 1985, I believe he did one of the orthopedic exam portions. He was so relaxed and easy going, made me feel like a colleague instead of the nervous recent grad that I was. I hope that when he sat for his "great beyond" exams, he was made to feel as welcome and relaxed as did for me when I sat for the boards. Godspeed, Dr. Hovenden!
