Guest guest
How about bringing them outside in the sunshine and vaccumning them there, then cleaning out the bag, etc. bagging the dust, and tossing that, doing it all outside. Then leaving them in the sun for a few days.. (assuming its not wet enough to make dew at night) From what I have heard, sunshine kills spores - and - deactivates most mold toxins as well, assuming that they can be brought out into it..(this could easily not work on carpet.. tho - of course, one that might work would need to be a thinner carpet without a lot of internal bulk. But it might work on clothes. Guest guest
You can give it to a proffesional carprt cleaner if you want,or have someone else clean it in any way you want, then give it to a relative untill you are well- if the rug cannot be washed every week, it will accumulate dust and toxins, and reglar vacumming will release them into the air. Carpets are very unhealthy for people who are sick. I loved my large wool carpet- paid to have it cleaned, but could not live with it, and this was before my massive mycotoxin problem, but I was still sick from mold, Rugs just accumulate too much dirt- the same with upholstered furniture- Leather couches are the best way to go- old upholstery gets dirt down in the stuffing- no amount of cleaning will get it out. > > So are you saying just leave the carpet dirty with the mold in it? Guest guest
I have wall to wall carpet so I just can't throw it out. I'll have to have my daughter vacuum. They have vacuum bags that are hepa filtration & they are supposed to keep the nasty's out. Guest guest
That would be a great idea for through carpeting. Can others confirm this. We get lots of sunshine in Arizona. Guest guest
, I want the truth. We will be selling the house but it will be 6 months or so from now. I am not sure what to do at this point. Guest guest
Yes Loni, I really just want to help, not to add to your overwhelming stress. I was sick in my rental for 6 months untill I ditched the carpets, vacumming with hepa did not help. I pulled up the carpet in the bedroom (with the permission of the landlord), stored it in the shed, and painted the nasty chipbosrd that was underneigth it, after cleaning it. now it is great. In the livingroom, I got heavy duty plastic and covered it, tapping around the boarders with duct tape, and put my runner over it, which I wash every week. Since I did that, I am immensely heathier, the effect was immediate. Good luck, > > , I want the truth. We will be selling the house but it will be 6 months or so from now.
