Guest guest
Barb, These charts and guidelines do not show Causation, but Tendencies. As the Relative Humidity decreases below 50% the Tendency is toward X and as the RH increases about 50% the Tendency is toward Y. The further it goes the greater the tendency. I would, however, reduce the RH to avoid condensation as liquid water is more avalilable for mold to grow, just like cardboard is a more available food than solid wood. It is all a balance. There are no absolutes. Carl Grimes Healthy Habitats LLC ----- > See this is the delima. Here is a guide to healthy humidity levels > and it says below 40% levels spreads viruses and disease. Carl, my trailer which was growing mold underneath from a/c water is in oklahoma. I am guessing the RH is from 70%-100% except for a few days when I cold front comes through and it is dry air. Like most people there, I keep the windowns open during cooler weather and it has occurred to me that this increases the already high RH inside our homes. Would most homes located in high RH's areas have some mold growing just from this fact alone? would it be a good idea to not open the windows and of course use a dehumidifier? I went to Home-Depot and Wal-Mart and neither carried a dehimidifier but both carried several brands of humidifiers. Bob --------------------------------- Personals Single? Guest guest
Bob, Re: finding a dehumidifier. They are probably just out of season for most people. I'm sure you could buy one of online any time of year though or perhaps Ebay. Putting a ceiling pan in to keep air circulating should help too.
