Guest guest
, I posted the following questions in response to another post, but in case you didn't see them, I would like to post them agaub 1. Could you explain why you are so persistent about neutralization shots? 2. How is this supposed to work in a person who does not have typical IgE mediated mold allergies? 3. How does it affect elevated IgG, IgM, and IgA elevated mold antibodies in the blood? Does it increase them, decrease them, or have no effect? 4. Is it possible for an initial IgE mediated response to change into an IgG mediated response either spontaneously or after getting the neutralization? Guest guest
I am posting this with my original post because I didn't mean to stir up such a controversy. First, I would like to say that I know that desensitization and neutalization are life saving to those people who have type I IgE mediated allergic reactions. I was not trying to diminish the importance of this. My ENT also said that the shots could also possibly decrease the body's IgG response to mold exposure, which is what I have. At one time I showed the typical type I allergies by skin prick tests and even took the shots for several years on two different occasions and they really didn't help. Then I had testing done several times after that and it was negative. So I was genuinely asking if the type of reaction could change and wondering if the shots might help after being out of the environment. I also realize that asthma can be triggered by mold and is also life threatening and has to be treated accordingly. Second, since so many people seem to be having mainly a toxic reaction to the molds, I can't understand how desensitization is going to help with that. A toxin is poison and it damages the body in totally differnet ways from typical allergens. If it is a toxic reaction, and not an allergic reaction, then possibly the detoxification program of sauna and other treatments proposed by the environmental doctors may have validity for some people. For others, Dr. Shoemaker's treatment has most certainly helped. I think he is a true pioneer in the biotoxin field, even though I don't think he has all of the answers for everyone either, yet. Third, there are some other rare reactions caused by mold that are not addressed by either of the above such as acutal infections by the mold (mainly in the immunocompromised), and such things as hypersensitivity pnemonitis and allergic bronchopulmonary mycoses that can be fatal if not diagnosed in a timely fashion, and each is treated differently from either of the above. I am merely trying to point out that there is no " one size fits all. " We are all desperate to find answers, and I don't think we should propose our own theory as the only truth. It is great to hear what has worked for other people and I think we should continue to post that, but realize that it may or may not work for us. Then to complicate matters, many of us are dealing with a combination of factors so it's very difficult to sort through them all. The group is very valuable to me and I've learned a lot from each of you that has helped me along the way, even if I don't agree with everything said. And I certainly don't expect everyone to agree with everything that I say.
