On December 8, " slumlord " lawsuits will be filed against the ownership and management of the five residential complexes -- three of which are located in the Pico Union area of Los Angeles, one in the Southside of downtown Los Angeles and another in Inglewood -- for breach of warranty habitability (unfit place to live), negligence and infliction of emotional distress.According to Attorney E. Castelblanco, the lawsuits are part of a broader campaign to clean up Los Angeles in order to protect the health and welfare of low-income families, as well as to crack down on and hold accountable the " predators " who force them to live in such an intolerable environment. At 11 a.m. on December 8, immediately following the filing of the lawsuits, a news conference will be held at one of the decaying buildings. At the conference, residents will air their grievances and attorneys will provide information on the lawsuits.
