Some of the worst I've seen came from pipes that sweat into the spaces between the floors and upstairs bathroom floors that eventually begin to rot from having water dripped on them. < Somewhere lost in the old messages, is a story about those flat roofed " temporary " classrooms (that get used until they fall apart) which had mold growing in the " dropped acoustic tile " ceiling from condensation on the metal hangars running down to the tiles. The old buildings weren't even leaking, strictly from condensation. Before Melinda Ballard and " mold hysteria " hit the media, I asked a number of plumbers if they had ever been working on pipes in a basement and suddenly succumbed to a strange flu-like illness. The responses were kinda like: " No... I, uh, wait a minute. Er, now that I think about it - funny that you should ask... " -

Most poor people there use " swamp " coolers, which may help humidify theair as it is around 5% -25%. I know the homes in Mexico are more mold resistant but I still know that mold has grown on the straw in the plaster. I know a man who build steel homes not far from there. Building a home mold-free and chemical free is a priority so any ideas? I thought about having the water pipes on the outside of walls so I can see them!!
