Guest guest
See this is the delima. Here is a guide to healthy humidity levels and it says below 40% levels spreads viruses and disease. I've read this before and this is why I used to keep house about 50% all year round despite windows sweating in very cold weather. I wish someone would figure this out definately. I think reason they are saying below 40% spreads disease because sinuses (and perhaps lung tissue? I don't know about latter), get dry and develope fine cracks. This allows germs into body. That is why germs that are present in environment and sinuses all year round only cause respiratory disease, i.e. colds, in the winter and why 'colds' are called colds because they happen in winter when air gets dry. So my house is around 25-30 lately. Are other keeping their houses this dry, or just about 40%. Then there is problem of windows sweating which can cause damage to wood and drywall around windows. Do newer insulated windows *not* sweat like old wood rope and pulley windows do? Thanks. Here is one link but I've read this lots of places: http://www.kiltox.co.uk/guides & info/humidty.htm
