Hey. Call the Dept. of Building Inspection first

thing monday and demand someone come out and stop

what's happening. Take pictures of everything. If

they don't come out, call Tommy at the Housing Rights

Coalition and ask for a lawyer referral.

Before you do any of that, there's a lawyer called

Lifschitz at 415-310-3661 who works with a lot of

people who are very poor and have mold problems. Call

him today and leave a message saying it's an emergency

and explain just a bit of the situation.

If you google his name you'll come up with a lot of

good things about him.

If he doesn't call back before monday, call back

monday and if his associate answers, explain to him

the emergency, and ask to talk with immediately.

Explain the situation. They're very nice,

sympathetic, and I'd be surprised if didn't have

the advice you needed. His whole office, with other

lawyers, deal with mold also.

Sounds like, at the very least, you have a great

lawsuit. Take pictures. Lots.

If you need the Tenant's Rights Handbook, you can

borrow it from me, or it's in the reference section of

the library. It's the book the Tenants Rights Union

puts out. You can pick it up from me in the Richmond.

I won't need it for the next couple of months.

In the meantime, can you cover everything with

plastic?

There's always camping on Mt. Tam. I know it's

drastic, but the air is fresh. If you need equipment,

call me at: 250-3297. Also call if you want the book.

:)

Good luck with !

Subject: Help! Is there any way in California to stop

landlord from

IGNORING SANE PRECAUTIONS during mold 'cleanup'?

Okay, I am going public with my location. I'm in the

Bay Area of

California.

And I have been complaining to my landlord about mold

for sveral years,

with

no action. Now, I have a complaint in with my local

Dept. of Building

Inspection and my landlord is hopping mad. Also, my

building is now

flooded,

due to a rain yesterday. Nonetheless, they are

proceeding with the

'cleanup'

which so far is basically being done by teenagers with

piercings. They

are

taking all the moldy drywall and putting it in a pile.

NO CONTAINMENT

WHATSOEVER. Next week, they plan to start the same

thing, in my

apartment.

Despite my test results, etc. (from the most respected

lab in Calif.)

They have still not acknowledged that we have mold(!)

(we do,

" abundant "

stachy, " abundant " asp/pen, and several toxicogenic

others..) I have

been

getting very sick with it, and am going to the doctor.

I live in rent

control and cant afford to move. They are clearly

trying to drive me

out

with toxic terrorism.

WHAT CAN I DO? THEY WILL CONTAMINATE EVERYTHING I KNOW

and quite

possibly

make me much sicker than I am. IS THERE ANY LAW THAT

FORCES THEM TO USE

CONTAINMENT AND TAKE PRECAUTIONS? I am freaking out. I

can show you

phots if

you want. You wouldn't believe it.

Also, when that BLACK water in the basement DRIES,

what will happen?

What

will be in it? The last few days have been better

BECAUSE IT WAS

RAINING..

But I couldnt imagine a way to make more mold spread

faster than what

they

are doing...

HELP..
