Guest guest
Dear Colleagues, As most of you know a few years ago I approached both Oregon State University and the U of O about adding a chiropractic physician(s) to their student health centers on campus. After negotiating with OSU and then giving a evidence based presentation on chiropractic OSU agreed they should add such services. A selection process took place with the University asking for my input and subsequently Dr. Lawrence of Corvallis became and continues to be on staff at the OSU Student Health Center...and is doing a great job at that! As I say I also approached the University of Oregon as well but they simply told me they didn't have room at their facility to add a chiropractor to their staff. At the time I believed they were likely blowing me off but I have continued to contact the Director. Good news came today the U of O has recently expanded their building an are ready to add a chiropractic colleague to the U of O Student Health Center!! The selection process will begin shortly much like how it went down at OSU, I forwarded via the OBCE an electric version of all the DCs in the Eugene/Springfield area to the Student Health Center's Director today..and I will likely be giving the same presentation to the medical staff on chiropractic as well. This may not sound like much to many of you but it is in my opinion substantial, why? Because many of these young men and women attending these two universities will later become policy makers, CEOs of large and small companies, small business owners themselves, legislators, professionals, etc., in short they are the up and coming "movers and shakers" of the future. By having a chiropractic colleague(s) in these student health centers will help to validate in these students minds that chiropractic physicians are legitimate partners in the healthcare delivery team in this country...all of which I believe will benefit us all and the profession over the long haul..... Cheers, Vern Saboe PS: Don't contact U of O at this time wait until the survey comes out...if you have questions or wish to make sure you are considered for the position contact me off list.........
