Guest guest
Parents Skeptical Of Mold Cleanup At Northern Ky. High School http://www.channelcincinnati.com/news/5368265/detail.html KENTON COUNTY, Ky. -- A Tri-State high school is set to reopen Monday after mold was found growing in a history classroom, News 5's Courtis Fuller reported. But the parents of the High student who was having health problems -- that doctors linked to the mold -- said they aren't sure that the problem has really been solved. " I won't be satisfied that they've done the job they should do to get (the mold) out, because I think they've been hiding this for a long, long time, " Burks said. Her daugher, , had been having respiratory problems since classes started in August, such as sinus and chest pain, congestion and runny eyes. When Burks alerted the school about the doctors' findings, a consultant was called in to investigate and found the mold Stachybotrys, Fuller reported. " We found about 15 square feet of active mold going on here, " consultant Bruce Fergusson said. Contaminated materials were disposed of while students enjoyed a day off from class on Friday. " We're just glad that we found it, we've located it, and immediately that section was removed last night, " said Dr. Cook, superintendent of Kenton County schools. " We followed the (Environmental Protection Agency) removal and remediation guidelines and had our consultant walking with us every step of the way. " Cook said an air quality test conducted at the school came back at normal levels Friday night, but the Burks said they remain skeptical -- and their daughter might have to undergo painful sinus surgery to correct her health problems, Fuller reported.
