Guest guest
Colleagues, As one with minimal social skills and even less time to waste in the Jaws of Hell Portland traffic, or even attempting to maintain a semblance of alertness during some endlessly droning seminar, I agree with many of the comments listed. I note my dwindling acquaintance of other DCs around the state, even those who were members of my own graduating pod, as we all march ever closer to that great Adjustment Table in the Sky. The annoyance and inconvenience and expense and aggravation I felt having to attend such events through the 70s, the 80s, and into the 90s, have been replaced with a more leisurely approach to adding to my clinical skills. There are a lot of fellow DCs I wish I'd spent more time getting to know, learning from, and gaining a bit more perspective on their part of the Chiropractic Universe. The nifty little flat-screen fiber optic whirling hard drive nest we all have labored mightily to construct for ourselves, too easily mutates into little other than a mud termite mound keeping the rain off our necks while confining and constraining our capacity to grow personally and expand our Vision as we are trapped in the economic warrens we dig for ourselves. These individual cribs we so dutifully service by habit, after the maddening all-consuming sacrifice to survive school and setting up practice, too easily separates us from other DCs, who do things differently, "wrongly"....who don't understand 'true Chiropractic'....yet we are all creatures of the same veldt under the same Dark Sky... The electronic campfire around which we huddle, reveals the dwindling fire in our own hearts as we rail against the Board, the insurance cartel, the slights and travails of other practitioners, those numerous other creatures of the jungle that are Not Friendly. And most assuredly, we will continue as a species to eat our own young and those we perceived as weak or so misguided, or so disfigured by their erroneous convictions, or who are~ most damning~"like US"......why would we care to meet if there's a way out of doing such.... All we have, that really support us in our cause, is other chiropractors. Friends, family, patients, sure, but their support is not the same. And you know how notoriously unreliable 'other DCs' are about anything.... And we're so busy bickering between ourselves we do lose the Big Picture, our Vision, our Dedication, our own health and clarity of mind and spirit. And like too many of you, I have a hard time allotting precious time with DCs like ME too. J. Pedersen DC
