Guest guest
It is so exciting. You would think we just had a real baby born yesturday. This is our first time growing loofa spounges so it is quite excting. Everyone looks at me like im crazy. " YOUR GROWING SPOUNGES???? " " they all ask. sure enough we are trying. All summer we have waited for something to happen. The loofas we had in the back got taken over by cucumbers, which of course are now dead as well. But I planted 3 behind the house by a heart shaped shepards hook, basket hanger thing. 1 or 2 started coming up. Now the thing is huge. I keep wraing the " tenticles " as i call them like a squid or something around the heart but there is just too many. THey wern't kidding whent hey said to space them 18 feet apart. yes 18 feet. geesh. so anyways it just started blooming 2 days ago was its first flower and today its second with plenty more to come and yesturday i noticed a few little spounde nubbies an inch long. I hope like crazy these will grow into nice little spounges. They say they are to be 1 to 2 feet long but I will settle for 6 or so right now. just to say that I grew at least one for our first season. Everyone is so excited, even my Father, and especially the kids who have all been looking and waiting all summer. Its exciting so i just had to share. Guest guest
lol honestly i don't know the name of the store. some farm store here in greece on latta road i think it is. i just asked my mom and she named a few places she doesn't even remember, but we think it is green acres. We don't go there even once a year. just happened to go for some reason and there were the seeds. at least i think that was the place. not something you find everyday thats for sure. I planted them sometime early june. the pack said it takes 120 days... so we knew it wouldn't be til late summer before we got something if anything at all but I thought id try a few, and save the seeds in a good spot for next year and start them early then. > > Taht is very exciting!
