Guest guest
We (Plano ISD special ed staff) are preparing a proposal for a technology bond program. This includes software and equipment, although not actually computers. Have any of you heard of anything wonderful (really good or cutting edge...) that has research to back up the success with students who have autism? I'd love to hear what you know! Guest guest
, I have a friend who is a special ed teacher in North Hopkins County ISD (East Texas). They got a grant to use Fast Forward. So far she has been impressed with the results. Email me if you would like to ask her any questions about it. Guest guest
Have you participated in Environmental Communication Training? It as a workshop that really opened my eyes and understanding of AT devices. I have had experience with a few devices but I am very new to the realm of aug. communications. Guest guest
I've also heard good things about Fastforward, but you have to become licensed and certified in its use by the company in addition to having the equipment and the program. Something else you may want to look into is Theraputic Listening http://www.vitalsounds.com. You may want to have someone certified in that as well. It's not software, but a series of cds, some with modulated sounds, others with somas sounds, that may help the children with lots of sounds sensitivities. The headphones are expensive ($130), but the program really has helped my son. We even started it up again when we were having some regression a couple of months ago. He actually told me, " My music helps the school not be so loud. "
