Guest guest
Dear Colleagues, The new provisions for chiropractic services called for within our House Bill 2756 started yesterday Jan. 2, 2008. You now have 18 visits or 60 days before you must refer the patient to an all knowing MD/DO for referral back to you for continued curative care. You can authorize up to 30 days of time loss beyond that you must have that same all knowing MD/DO authorize any continued time-loss. However, if you patient is enrolled in a W/C MCO the MCO’s treatment guidelines and rules trump the 18/60. If your not on panel, remember you still have 7 days from the post mark (the day it was sent) of the enrollment letter to treat your patient as per the continuity of care provision before you must refer them to a colleague who is on panel. The carrier must notify you the provider in writing as well as the patient it is not enough to simply notify the injured worker in writing unless, the carrier has no knowledge you exist or were treating the injured worker. So make darn sure you get those Form 827s in with your chart notes and billings ASAP! If you have questions about non-payment for your services you can call the Workers’ Compensation Medical Dispute Section at 503-947-7816 listen for the prompts then select “option 2” when the automated system offers it and then ask to speak to the “medical reviewer of the day.” Don’t miss the 36-Hour AMA Guides 6th Edition Impairment Rating Certification Classes! This is going to be huge for the profession I need 400 or 500 of you colleagues certified in the current edition of the Guides! Dates: April 19-20, May 17-18, and May 31-June1, 2008 Classes will be in Salem flyers will be coming out shortly.
