Dr. Harper,

I've been in practice since 1984. Last month I received my first reimbursement

referral from the VA on one of my existing patients. The patient was quite

assertive in getting her VA PCP to authorize it. Bottom line, the VA

authorized a purchase order for chiropractic care with my office for only 6

visits for a 12 month period. It might be changing (slowly), but there is still

a lot of education we have to do towards the VA medical system.

DC. You have to write to your local senator and ask that they push the VA to

allow more chiropractors in the NW visen. Currently there are a few chiros

available for treating within the VA, but the NW is composed of (those of you

who know better correct me if I am wrong) Washington, Oregon, Idaho and Montana.

This NW visen is one of the most resistant to Chiropractors for some reason.

Anyhow, we push the bill every year so as it comes up it is important to watch

for postings from Vern or the ACA/ICA if you are part of that. Mostly though

just keep bugging your senator so they will put the pressure on the VA to be

more open. Of course once they have more Chiropractors available you will have

to be a part of the VA to get the referrals....
